Well, it seems I was wrong when I said that Iran could and would outlast the sanctions since they would hurt EU.
With weird rhetoric that it's the West that tanks the talks all the time, and "No, we won't stop enriching" and "EU oil exports bring in only 23-24 Billion $, we can do without them" Iran says it is ready to go to the negotiation table again. It's the first step. Let's see what happens. It seems that the sanctions at least scared them.

Besides the obvious "Will it last? What will happen in the negotiations? Is it a ruse to buy time or they're getting desperate?" thing, I would like to ask people about Ahmadinejad himself as he comes off with these declarations of high independance and superiority as they run to the negotiaton table 3 days after the sanctions.
I think it's for domestic reasons as his enemies and opponents will call him weak and say he finally broke.

I'm not optimistic but let's see what happens. Maybe he's trying to diffuse the military tension by agreeing to such negotiations, but I don't see what kind of compromise they could agree too.

I would like to think this will go somewhere; these endless sanctions are hurting and while the regime may think the pain is worth the gain, Mr. and Mrs Rafsanjani on the street may disagree.

Or it could be a gesture at gaining positive PR ('look, we are cooperating, it's all the West's fault') and time. Wouldn't be the first time. After all, he said Iran wont give up the program.
