    Default Commander skill

Hi, I'm new to EB and recently I've tried a game as Makedonia. I concentrated on KH first and Epirus second. I've managed to conquer two KH cities in Greece proper and decided to deal with Epirus. I've put a new kid in command of my army as his traits promised at least a decent commander (sharp/charismatic/vigorous).

After a few years, and several heroic victories achieved, he was still a 0-star commander, even thouhg he was grizzled, untouched by fear and famous victor, among others.

So, obviously, just winning battles isn't enough, so my question is how command stars are actually gained? I can't seem to get any. This is even more perplexing to me as I killed at least 3 Epirote generals who had 8-10 stars.

the team members right the player doesnt need them and it makes sense to not have them as a player but i think in jirisys megamodpack the command stars have been made as in you can earn them kinda fix check that out

I think that command stars are rare because then the player would steamroll everything with just that commander, enemy generals gain stars to stand a chance against the human player in a real battle.

Command stars are for Ai, you, as human player don't need them (besides that a 10-star-behemont just looks cool), you have to be careful about army moral (check the general traits, they have a huge impact).

So no bug, but a feature of EB.

But normally, a General would get better in battle and commanding after some victories.

What trait increases that reflects a Generals ability depending on the battles he has won? And does it have any effect on the army he is controlling?

In addition what XSamatan said -he's a team member btw, in case you didn't notice- you could go here and download the powerpoint presentation and also the html.

The intelligence, charisma and vitality traits affect getting other traits and thus indirectly also command stars iirc.
And afaik, if a general's vitality is languorous it will take longer for him to get positive effects of good actions (like winning a heroic battle for example). Whereas a vigorous general gets these positive effects (as advancing at GoodLeader traits; see html for that) faster.

Also, I think it matters the way the game sees the battles you fight. If you win battles against the autoresolve odds then you get command stars faster. Sadly, when your commanding phalangites, the odds are almost always in your favour, thus preventing you from gaining command stars.

    Just my thoughts.

Ok i am playing as Macedonia and i used a General which had great potential to conquer most of Greece and he now has a lot of +morale traits and has 5 stars and Grizzled atm.

I am going to continue to use him because he is amazing, he is young too, around 33 years of age .
