Default Editing Player's Upkeep - Campaign

I can't believe I just picked this game back up today and have started playing it again, and that's a good thing... because I forgot how much I enjoyed it. This time around though, I just want to have a good old fashioned total domination campaign.

Is there any way to edit the upkeep values of my units? And using that export/unpacker/text method, if I change the upkeep value is that changing it for the AI as well? Any way to manipulate AI values and player values independently?

    Thanks!

FYI... playing M2TW on a bootcamped iMac... kinda awkward... but it works!

You have to edit some values from export_descr_unit, it's pretty easy and the EDU itself has a guide on what value is what. You'll have to unpack M2TW I think, I haven't done it myself as I keep forgetting it but I think you have to.

And yes, this will change it for the AI too and there is no way to have different values.

Thanks for the rapid reply! Coincidentally, I'm download patch 1.2 and the unpacker tutorial right now Bummer that I can't change the upkeep for just player/AI, but it will be interesting to see how things are affected on the AI side if I scale it up/down.

Check at the bottom of the Units characteristics list in the Export_desc_units file. IF no other factions but yours use the unit...then you can change the cost/upgrade/maint cost without giving it to the AI as well. This will mean that you cannot do it for all of your factions units but some of its unique units.
You can also change how many are available and how fast they become available by looking at the export_desc_buildings file. Again some "buildings" are used by many factions so if you find one that is only used by your faction, you can increase the rate that your units are replenished at that particular building. This is a great guide for Units in particular - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=221093
Also a great guide for adjusting your building (IE:recruitment rates and Experience levels) - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=221100
