Default military reforms and units unlock

Hi everyone. I'm new here, so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong topic or if this matter has recently been discussed.

I'm interested with the system of military reforms in TATW. How does it work?

1°/How and when do you unlock new military units?

2°/Are there any special actions required to unlock a new set of units?

3°/Is the time between two military reforms set, or is it randomly decided by the game?

For instance, I play two campaigns, both of which around 3020 TA. The first campaign (Gondor) has already unlocked all the military reforms, while the second one (High Elves) only unlocked the first military reform. Is it normal?

Thanks in advance for any advice or comment!

    Weclome to the forums

But before I answer your questions, I ask you if you could please post your future questions in the official questions thread here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=261921. It keeps the forums a little more orderly you know

    And now on your question:
TATW has one so-called "Barracks event" (or "reform" as you call it). When you start a new campaign, you will only be able to recruit lower-quality units. At the very first turn of the campaign a message will pop up from your millitary advisors which says the war preparations are being made. This message won't do anything, it just informs you that more advanced units aren't available yet.

From turn 40 however, you will get a chance of approximately 10-20% (not sure how much it was exactly) for the barracks-event to occur (A message from your millitary advisors. So in some campaigns it will occur earlier then in others. You don't have to do anything to make the barracks event occur, it happens all by itself.

As you have figured out, the barracks event unlocks ALL of the units the faction has, as well as the higher tier barracks (you still have to construct the higher level barracks for recruiting the advanced units)

I'm not really sure how you got 2 reforms with Gondor though, as there is only one barracks event

I believe in past versions there were 2 reforms one for average to decent units and another for elite powerful units, I might be wrong though.

That's true, in 2.x there were more barracks events, but I assume he is playing 3.1, as he is new here
