Obviously the Republicans response was written before Obama presented his speech.

He said Rewarding hard work and reponsibility twice. Wow!
He said lets move forward twice. Amazing!
Universities should try and keep costs down.
The Immigration system sucks and is unfair... hence broken, and wasnt fixed 3 yrs ago so... he repeated it again.
The Dream Act is very reasonable and he believed in it then as much as now.
The parties were locked in an endless cycle of campaigns a year ago as much as now so hes not wrong in repeating this.
Whats wrong with wanting a more efficient govt?

That video was so stupid. I could make a video of Reagan and cut out bits and clips of each SotU and mash them together and claim he repeated himself over and over again. But I have better things to do.

Well political speeches that are political are rarely political, so I can see that as a legitimate complaint.

My favorite Daniels' quote "We are not a nation of haves and have nots but a nation of haves and soon to have" -- Did they slash their speech writers budget? And yeah, the speech was drafted before the speech. The overhwhelming majority of the jobs created by Jobs were overseas. Daniels' speech cannot properly be understood a response to the State of the Union speech, because he doesn't respond to it. Additionally the tenure of Daniels' speech, was basically 'things are broken, so let's keep doing more of the things that we did break them in the first place.'

The GOP response sounded like a new Sialis commercial.

I like how Obama opened with the world being a safer place and America being more respected because of the Iraq war.
Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main [sic] incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus. [A] necessary degree of fear, [...] frontier incidents and [staged] border clashes [will] provide a pretext for intervention. The CIA and SIS should use [...] capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension. [Funding should be provided for a] Free Syria Committee [and arms should be supplied to] political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities.

Wow, way to take something so out of context that I can't think of a single statement from the State of the Union that you could possibly be referencing. Nice job.
Worst part of trying to express a point is when someone says what you said better and gets praised.

At 0:41, in reference to the troops that fought in Iraq, he says, "We gather tonight knowing that this generation of heroes has made the United States safer and more respected around the world."

Sorry, I did make an error, but a rather trivial one: I claimed Obama said that the world is safer, but he said the United States is safer.

Either way, my implication still stands: it's a complete load of tripe.

And the Trojans thanked the Greeks for that big wooden horse. Good luck with Iraq. What could go wrong?

Hey, I never said that our Persian friends were going to have an easy time with trying to bring Iraq into their sphere of influence.

Yeah, so it really isn't much of a gift. The U.S. screwed up in Iraq and now we're out of money and have to leave. It's a simple as that.
