    Default Mongol as playable faction?

    In which mods can I choose the mongols as a playable faction?
    Are they are a horde or settled, in there from the beginning or entering later on?

    as far as I know, you can choose them as playable faction in custom campaign/retrofit mod and in stainless steel..in custom campaign mod they are playable from the beginning and have one, or two cities and are not horded..in stainless steel (late campaign) they are also playable from the beginning, have one city, and a several big armies (that simulate hordes) so you can expand in few directions..those are two mods that I would recommend for you, don't know for other mods..

    Stainless Steel and the Kingdoms Grand Campaign mod are two i know, though in the KGCM, the Mongols are a muslim faction

    Also, the Mongols are playable in the Teutonic Campaign simply by moving the faction from non-playable to playable.

    They're playable in the Expanded Americas mod. Start with a region in the far east and are pagan instead of muslim. Also you get a few free, full stacks for a number of turns to dominate Europe with.
    Good fun.
