Failing as Numidia on tubes, for Your amusement!

Hello!

I was lurking around this forum for a while now, but never really had anything constructive to add, perhaps until now.
Not long ago I've started a series of videos on playing Numidia in RTW vanilla, naturally the difficulty in question is VH/VH.
Also we shan't rush, bribe towns (as if it was even possible to get that much cash..) and at times we'll intentionally delay crucial battles to start a grand downfall of anything i could possibly accomplish.

Finally, when having trouble holding ground on one front line, i open another two, because.. why not?

I realize that there is an AAR section on these forums, but i didn't want to corrupt it with a video "Let's Die". I am unsure whether this thread belongs there, if it does, excuse my incompetence.

I've done an AAR or two in the past, and just recently joined the 'video' community.
I hope that i didn't miss a rule (written or otherwise known) that forbids or looks down upon video LP's.

We're 10 hours into the game (uploaded stuff) and in about 3 videos it shall suddenly become much more difficult. I cut out some of the boring stuff, but not all of it (perhaps too little!)
Finally, a fair warning, i do use curse words. Watch at Your own risk.

All comments, suggestions and most importantly criticism is welcome.
But above all else I'd like to know whether or not such threads are even allowed and / or fitting. Should any of the above not be the case, the moderators are free to delete it.

But, about numidia. THE hardest faction in the game? Really?





I'll start a VH/VH campaign and I shall race you to our doom.

Btw, I'm not certain either that this thread is legit, but in my consideration, more threads like this are needed. People just don't have this kind of fun playing RTW nowadays.

In the vanilla game, yes.
I've tried Spain, where I've kept "process_cq'ing" many Roman cities and adding tons of population to them, to have Reforms in an early stage. This is how it ended up anyway :

Another contender could be the Rebels, but being immune to revolting cities (Carthage, Alexandria, Sidon, Jerusalem, Memphis, Thebes with no revolts?) makes it an annoying faction to play, but not a top contender.

To be honest with you, I've only played vanilla once. As soon as I've learned that we could edit the bonus on EDB, so long revolts!

I hate having to deal with dissident cities. It's true that allowing them to revolt, conquering them, and killing the habitants = profit, but it's too much busywork...

Regarding numidians, they aren't that bad. At the beginning, they're easier than the seleucids. True that they do suck, but militia cavalry can do pretty much anything. Just pray that they don't besiege your cities :X

Also, the game is somewhat incorrect about the iberian tribes. They are the ones who thought the romans how to fight, and not the contrary. Even the gladius was based on a celtiberian weapon. But who cares...

Oh, and I personally think that the only faction that can contend with Numidia for difficulty is Scythia. Both start out with worthless land and weak troops. And neither can compete militarily with the civilized nations.

Hold it right there, good sir.

Scythia not only has horse archers but also cavalry units that ignore armor.
Scythian Maidens are a counter to cataphracts and everything that has tons of armor.
Not to mention Scythian Nobles with insane charge bonus.

Going for Germans, Thracians, Dacians, Gaul.. One would lose ~0 units per battle as Scythians.

True. But that is counterbalanced by how difficult it is to get to the higher tiers of troops. Campaign as Scythia has always been impossible for me, as poor economy and weak starting troops ensure my defeat at the hands of Dacia.

Numidia is harder, but Scythia is a close second for me.

If i could edit my first post, i would, but since that is impossible, i shall instead "bump" with an information that the playlist has been updated with parts 26 - 31.

We get Jerusalem back and get attacked by Pathia and Armenia, who join the war on Egyptian side.
Having trouble on the Eastern Front, and with multiple stacks of Spaniards and Britons on the Western Front, while at the same time getting wrecked in naval battles, we do what every sane person would do, when outnumbered 5 to 1 and outproduced 10 to 1..

We open two more front lines, in Italy and in Greece. Operation "Das Boot" (as in Italy..) begins, and Greek Faction Leader's Mother joins our "to do" list.
Why that many front lines? Well.. why not?
