the Islamist party of the Muslim Brotherhood has won a majority in egypt's parliament, what'll this mean for the future of Egypt?

perhaps a possible M1 Abrams vs Merkava Tank duel?

Good, that's what the people want, that's what they should get. In my opinion, much better than tyrant supported by US money and guns.

the ppl have effectively voted in an islamist party in favour of sharia law, and female genital mutilation; is this what all them liberal democratic demagogues wanted when they go out to mould the world in their image? see, this is the difference between democratisation and westernisation; closet imperialists use one when they obviously mean the other.

Well how many of the Egyptian people those demagogues represent?

But I do think military is going to stay in control, either military junta will remain or 2nd revolution.

Still doubt the civilians hold much power. The military likes all their cool little toys like M1 Abrrams tanks. If they want to keep getting "aid" like that the government will have to be friendly towards the US and her interests. The military to me is still the one pulling the strings in this government.

One issue is how an Islamist party will reconcile their desire for Islamic law against the reality that a large portion of Egypt's economic well-being is dependent on Western tourists coming to see the Pyramids, Sphinx, etc. Can't really see the the same number of tourists rocking up if the women folk have to don top-to-toe robes the minute they arrive at Cairo airport; or if alcohol is no longer available....
