A Question About Editing a Pre-Existing Sub-mod

Say i wanted to revert back to 2.1 so I can get my FROME on. What steps would be required to take the new units from 3.1 i.e. Imladris Riders to put them into FROME?

Followed the link. I decided to do a test by giving the Silvans the ability to recruit Smiths of Eregion. Do i need to follow all the opening steps or just the part about being able to recruit them in campaign mode? no one in that thread has answered me yet.
