    Default Thanks!

I have played RSII, RTR FOE and now RTR VII, in addition to RTW, RTW/BI. I just recently stumbled across this mod and don't know how I managed to miss it for so long. Now, granted, I haven't been playing SPQR too long, but here are my thoughts:

Finally, playing as Carthage, an economic model that I don't have to spend long nights fretting over in order to turn a profit. Now I can concentrate on building cities, and armies, and using them.

The battles are awesome. Lengthy and, well, fun! My sole complaint is that I can't really tell by a glance at the battlefield banners anymore which units are routing. But, as I say, I just started playing this mod, so I'm sure there's something I'm missing.

Having just spent many, many hours playing RTR VII, I kind of miss the detail of that map compared to the RS2 map. On the other hand, having also spent hours and hours in that mod trying to generate sufficient income to support the kind of armies I needed to protect my holdings-- and often as not failing--I'm thinking maybe the trade-off was worth it.

I'm also sure that the more I play SPQR and become familiar with it, the more things I'll come to appreciate about it. So, thank you one and all, to the design team! I look forward to many, many hours of fun and conquest!
"We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I took the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...."

You 'll get even more fun, frustrations and conquest if you play as the Romans. Of course your allowed to play as carthage but this game is designed to be played as Romans because all the other factions get to many bonuses. Don't worry about money there is plenty to go around.
