One thing I always found ironic is how people have nothing against genghis khan, yet hate hitler to death. Why? gk slaughtered a lot more people than hits, was a savage brute with no regard for anyone's life (at least hitler loved whitey), and reading the history behind genghis khan will reveal how evil he truly was.

Genghis Khan spared everyone who surrendered. If you accepted his rule you were very likely to live in a surprisingly peaceful empire.

On the other hand under Hitler you were very likely going to die if you were either jewish, slavic or homosexual.

Nonsense. You seem to imply that there were no moral standards or forms of justice back then. There were, even though on a more local scale. Many people were shocked at the brutaliy and brutal conquest ideology dispayed by the Mongols. For example, one Roman chronicler from Split made a point of juxtaposing their ways to those of Christians, Muslims, and Jews - in short, everybody else he knew of. Which is remarkable for Medieval Christians seeing as they usually had an unfavourable view of other Monotheist religions.

As for racial politics, one of the major reasons why National Socialism is so evil is that you can't join or even just be spared if you're born into the wrong ethnicity. This is the area where Hitler out-eviled (almost) everybody else. Certainly Genghis Khan and his underlings were less strict and inhumane in this regard.
However it has to be said that the Mongol hordes generally showed disregard to peoples who weren't Mongol or at least Turkic, as evidenced by their wholesale slaughter of Indian, Iranian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern communities. Perhaps not unusual in their time, but unprecedented on this scale.

The difference is that "Hitler" lived in the "Civilized" Modern age, while Genghis Khan is seen as a brute from nowhere a long time ago that knew no better.

Except for the fact that you mention two people who lived in the past, there is no link to history in your question. You're asking why people now view them a certain way. A very arcady question.
