Those damn doors not closing!
My goodness I gott pissed off at my M2TWG game today. got a full s tack of byz troops in budapest and being besieged by the danes. first thing I do is send out my arch cav units to take out their catapults. works fine, lost some troops but now they need to attack my city, great. trying to send my cav back in. now it happens:
one stupid cav unit just stays RIGHT outside my gates and doesnt budge no matter what I do. of course the danes are quick to react, kill the 30 cav units and storm my gate. I manage to hold em off, but this isnt the first time that something like this has happened. what pisses me even more off is when the gate doesnt CLOSE even though the FULL unit is either outside or inside, but the gate remains open for the enemies to waltz in. do you guys have this problem? if yes how did you solve it? its really annoying!

I believe the gate stays open when one of your units is close to it. I don't know why your cavalry won't move in though.

Re: Those damn doors not closing!
When I order out my cavalry, and order them back in again after destroying the enemy siege crew, I actually order them all the way in to the plaza, and let them ride in that direction until the gates close, then I order them back near the gate after it's closed again. However sometimes I do let the cavalry get to the placa, esp. heavy cavalry, so they can actually charge into the enemy that breached the gate. But yes, sometimes, it takes some micromanaging to get the gates closed, the same with getting flags on towers (so that the archers in the tower start to fire).

Re: Those damn doors not closing!
I never send units through the gates on besieged sides, just in case something like this happens. Instead, I send cavalry units out of the clear gates and have them take out artillery or position themselves behind the enemy for when they attack. The enemy then gets squished by the wall defenders and cavalry, and rout easily.
