Limited Citizenship?

It struck me after reading the demographic details of several African countries that they limit citizenship to Black Africans only!

I was wondering if this is not racist? What if a predominantly white country (USA, Scandanavia or UK) did the same thing, ie: citizenship only for whites? Would not the uproar amongst blacks be huge, with shouts of racism, imperialism and colonialism plentiful? Yet some black countries are allowed to get away with this form of discrimination!

What are your thoughts?

Modern western view of Racism is too much USA centered, ie it is too seen with the spectrum of racism against Blacks, and have problems to comprehend racism or ethnic conflicts in other cultures. They only see racism against Blacks, but not from Blacks against others, or inter black racism.

I am from Africa and could opine, but first would you specify which country restrict citizenship to blacks only ?

I don't think they are allowed to get away with it, people don't care.

But then again do these countries revoke citizenship of whites who have been born there for several generations, since the Colonialism age? Like Mugabe.

AFAIK I never heard of an African country baring white people immigration for skin color, just the usual NYMBY.

Seems unlikely, since it's a bar to investment in financial and technical know how terms.

If it existed, it would be purely based on some racialist nationalistic ideological platform that a political party brought with them as it attains power.

I think the OP is referring to the affirmative actions for the black majority in certain African countries against the much wealthier white minority? (you have this in Indonesia and Malaysia as well, affirmative action and preference for jobs for the majority against the minority Chinese, who control the businesses).

There's a pretty big difference between stripping people of some of their constitutional rights(the basis of modern citizenship) and affirmative action.

affirmative actions in some African countries involve taking properties from Whites and redistribute them among poorer black citizens. That might be considered an infringement of their rights for property as private citizens.

For South East Asia the backlash resulted in the Chinese and Indian minorities establishing for themselves and their children overseas havens (rather like the Chinese in the PRC are currently doing or contemplating) for those who can afford it, transferring a vast amount of capital out of the reach of their respective governments. Worse than capital flight is the resultant brain drain and loss of both the entrepreneurial and professional middle class.

Kind of complicated

Paternal Grand Father was half Black and half Portuguese, Maternal Grand Father was half Belgian and Black.

The two African countries that I do know that do not extend citizenship to whites are LIberia and Kenya (including those whites of 2nd - 3rd generation). They allow whites to move to said country but cannot become a citizen.
SOuth Africa does not allow the grabbing of white property, even if the ANC wants it. I am South African and I live in SA, and I am 3rd generation. Our constitution stops this from happening. Affirmative Action is a reality though. In SA I can see a need for it, to improve the living conditions of the blacks kept out of the system by Apartheid. There is talk in some ANC circles that AA has a deadline.
