    Default Towers firing arc.

    Have the angles that wall towers are able to shoot been increased in 3.0? I feel like the towers can shoot in far more directions now, including backwards.

    I find this really annoying, as they will shoot into fights that occur on top of the walls, which usually leads to them shooting your own men in the back and inflicting more friendly casualties than enemy. To make it worse, in the end of battle score card bit, these casualties come up as enemy kills rather than friendly fire, so you cannot even tell how many there were.

    I'd like to change the towers so they can only fire straight forward.
    Would this be done by editing the fire_angle part in the descr_wall to something like 120?

    Yes I believe that will fix it, changing it down to 160 should allow them to fire on units near the wall but not on the wall.

    The part that confuses me is that they can fire backwards. 180 degrees suggests it can go along the walls and anywhere in front, but if you walk through the gates towards the city centre, they keep shooting you in the back.

    Do the towers have two separate shooting arcs? And the two 180 combine for a 360 degree coverage?

    That would indicate that those towers have arrow slots facing the town centre too.

    This hasn't worked.

    I changed the fire_angle line for every option in the descr_wall file.
    The towers still shoot in all directions, which results in far more friendly casualties than enemy while on the wall.

    Has anyone been able to fix this? Or even confirm that it is different from 2.x? I don't recall them shooting backwards before.
