CA Please ANSWER this question

Dear CA,

First of all, awesome job making Total War games. The fact that ,at the time of writing, no other game developer can create a game that challenges yours is a credit to your whole company. I am looking forward to the FotS and future Total War games.

I wrote this to ask you the following question:

Why do you not release all units for Napoleon Total War? This includes the pre-order units.

I bought every Total War game you made, every expansion and all DLC you made. Of them all, I am only missing the pre-order units for Napoleon. That is a shame as without those few units the game does not feel complete.

I understand that you might never release these units. Please tell us why, communicate with us. If it's top secret then tell us that. Give us something.

I am a fan of yours. I really really am. The fact that you are communicating with us is fantastic and your games keep improving. That is why I decided to write this. I know a CA staff member will read this and that gives me hope for an answer.

While I am not losing sleep over this issue, I do have a life, it would be nice to be able to look at the hand crafted Napoleon statue (Emperor Edition) on my shelf and know that my game is complete.

I sent the team a PM so hopefully they get back to me. I'd rather not post this in the Shogun section as it primarily concerns Napoleon. Saying that, FotS is similar to Napoleon and like Napoleon it too has different units/clans from different suppliers. So if the pre-order units are not released then maybe the pre-order clans for the FotS will not be released either. Napoleon set the precedent.

Wait...what units did they not release? I bought the Total war pack last december and I thought it included everything..

You have a complete game if you have the following DLC:

Coalition Battle Pack
Community Reward Unit (for joining CA warroom on their forums)
Elite Regiment
Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars
Imperial Guard Pack
Peninsular Campaign
HMS Elephant (EB Games & Game pre-order unit)
Royal Scots Greys (Steam pre-order)
Towarczys (Play.com & BilliqueSpil.dk pre-order)
Grand Battery of the Convention (Amazon pre-order)

The only way to have a complete game is if you pre-ordered 4 games from their specific retailer. Otherwise they are not available as standard DLC yet. The whole point of my letter to CA is to figure out why that is the case as they are very silent about it. Oh, and let us not forget that they are doing the same thing with the Fall of the Samurai.

The non-gettable units are gimmicky anyway, its not like your missing anything.

I disagree. The Royal Scots Greys played an important role at the battle of Waterloo. Having them available in game would add some more immersion. The Grand Battery was a Napoleon invention, HMS Elephant was one of Nelson's ships, and Towarczys I know nothing about.

Compare that to the pre-order clans of FotS. Now those pre-orders I would class as gimmicky.

Bah, you get easily get these units in lods or make them yourselves. The limitation is it's mostly for single player, you can't have them in multi.

I don't use mods. And that is beside the point. According to this argument the next Total War game should come with only a couple of units because we can make mods. CA made those units and did not release them. I would like them to be released. It matters to me and many other gamers.

First, don't play mod, your loss. Second, yes, I'd rather have CA spend time making real modding tool and release an "empty" engine with very few units, than having them make many units and no modding tools.
There units are not that good anyway, they should let modders do that for them.

I support this and want the scots grays. its a nice multiplayer addon. When i fix my computer i will be playing allot more online NTW.

Oh yea, forgot that. Online play too. It's pretty silly to fight online and the other player has the Scots Greys which I can't have. But that's ok because I have HMS Elephant and that will counter... oh wait...

Oh yes, let's reward CA by giving them our money for not selling a complete game, and selling it back to us in parcels. Thanks CA!... Btw if you really want a response from CA go to THEIR forums. They don't check these that much, especially if it's not Shogun 2 related. They don't care about their community so good luck getting a response on their forums.

Those units are gimmicky, all the extra units are basically repaints with some stat changes.
