Default CA Finally Speaks on Price

Finally, CA have chosen to say something on price over at the COM.
    Hi guys

Just to set the record straight on this, the pricing will be

    £8.50

    € 10.00

    $14.99

Now I have seen the amount of work that has gone in to this project and this is REALLY great value for money. You won't be disappointed on this you really won't.

Players can expect a good 40-50 hours of new gameplay. And it's not just more of the same. The unit mix, authentic to the period, forces the player out of their established style of play. There's no sheltering behind a line of infantry and waiting for your archers to decimate the enemy - now you've got to go forward and engage them toe-to-toe, just like Alexander did.

So you've got campaign and historical battles then add to that both the standard and new multiplayer options, I reckon that makes the it the best value TW expansion to date.
That sounds about right. Personally, I think CA has been using leaks as a way of sending up trial balloons on price before deciding where to set it. I don't think they were too happy with the feedback they were getting. Their whole announcement system for Alexander is an example of how not to do things.

Thanks for the info, Red Harvest. I'm not going to download it, though.

Well at £8.50 i may change my mind. Nah, il just buy it once MTW2 is out and i am bored of it, and hopeully by then it will be less than £5. That is, if its any good at all, atm it seems to be a lazy half assed attempt by CA at making us part with our money on something mods do for free, and they do it better!

It's a fair price, and I appreciate that. I won't buy it anyway, but still, it's nice to see it's going for sales relatively cheap.

Compare this with other companies, who dare ask $1 per item.

C'mon, it's only 15$. you guys probably spend more than that on gas every week. This exp. is gonna be alot of fun and you'll regret it if you don't purchass it.

It was originaly said to be free back when it was first announced.

So now that they want money for something that isnt adding anything more than a minor mod i aint paying.

Chivarly on the other hand, adds tons more content, SPQR RTR etc...

all those mods add more than this.

*yes and im usualy the CA ******

Other than a couple of posts by you and one other person stating that, there have never been any published reports or CA comments to that effect. If you can find one, please link it.

Some folks erroneously assumed that download = free.

First of all, petrolium is a liquid, not a gas.
And i will most definatly NOT regret not purchasing it, especially since if i ever geel the need to purchase it, i can do so and play it about an hour after i purchase it. Maybe it will be a lot of fun, but i am having plenty of fun with RTR and IBFD, and they all offer more than this exp. If CA cant be bothered to make new units(they just re-coloured the old ones), or even do historical research and find that India was not a backward, barbarian nation, then i cannot be bothered to part with my money.

In america they just refer to it as gas...its a little Semantic/Lexical difference
I'm just gonna mod in my own units I think. That'll make it better...although that map...urgh.

Chivalry has just been released. Why would anybody buy alexander when they can play a mod that will probably turn out to be almost as good as M2TW... i haven't downloaded it myself yet because of my annoying exams.

It might be because it is very buggy and has many CTD's in Chivalry. I am not suggesting that it will not be good, one day, but I would hope that the Alexander expansion would be more 'complete' and playable.

Read the known bugs for Chivaly...

    Known bugs:
    - Install patch to get MP working
    - Historical battles don't work
    - Custom army button is a grey blob
    - Strat map character animations (includes sinking, erattic behaviour)
    - Campaign crashes when you accept mercs
    - Bohemia's map Castille's
    - "unlocalised placement text" with Bohemia's unique units
    - crash on battle load with slave Seljuk Horse Archers (see above)
    - settlement and region names
    - faction icons in campaign battles
    - Danish units in tech-tree
    - Andalusian Infantry causes ctd (see fix above)
    - No ships for a few factions
    - Some cities have no garrison
    - Most names are still from vanila
    - Banners in cities are from vanilla
    - No victory conditions
    - Can't recruit spies

    Mentioned/Possible Bugs (please confirm):
    - crash with a Russian rebel unit (possibly Foot Boyars)
    - Teutonic units cause a ctd (please specify which one)
    - Scottish rebel unit Goirrane causes ctd
    - Sound Pack music not working in the campaign (if so download file below)
    - Rebel unit near Sicily causes ctds (which one?)

    Unit Glitches:
    - A lot of knight units have messed up skins
    - Some Royal Bodyguards are messed up
    - Saxon Huscarles have brown faces
    - Hobilars have maces at a distance
    - Second lod for Themata Taxeis for Byzantines is wrong

As for costs. To me I don't care, I either pay and play or don't and so move on. I will buy it as I perceive its value to be worthwhile. Then again I didn't have a problem about paying for the mods for Oblivion either.
