I find this part of TWC most appropriate since art is always on the bad side of censorship .

Colbert said it best, we need to put hardened criminals, like those little girls dancing to Single Ladies on youtube in jail!

For a first offense of posting something on the internet without permission, you can go to jail for 5 years?! Ridiculous. If you go on YouTube, there are millions of videos of people covering songs on their instruments, dancing to their favorite songs, giving lessons on how to play a song, and singing their favorite songs. This is practically wiping the internet clean of art.

How are we free in America if we aren't free to express ourselves? Now I know that statement may be a little extreme, but this law, if passed, could be a gateway to continuous and increasingly oppressive censorships.

This law effects for more than music too. This could fatally damage Wikipedia too. Now we here at TWCenter know that Wikipedia isn't always best for history, but its an extremely useful website nonetheless.

I highly recommend watching the video. Colbert is hilarious, and sheds some light on the subject, with a bit of humor of course.

    Thinking better...

Isn't censoring censorship a form of censorship as well?

Anyway... I heard somewhere that Obama won't agree with it. Ugh, and it's ridiculous that an American law could affect the whole world.

This bill is about to receive some huge opposition, plenty of politicians have already flipped on their position because of public outcry. Even if it somehow gets passed Obama is expected to veto it, and there's no way they get the 2/3 vote it needs to beat a veto.

Nerd here...slashdot has a nice article on what SOPA is and what you can do about it: http://yro.slashdot.org/story/12/01/...-sopa-and-pipa. Since I immensely enjoy this site, I encourage everyone, no matter where you live, to get involved. This site would definitely be affected by the bill.
