Confusion with cavalry stats.
there seems to be a confusing between charge attack and melee attack for cavalry.
for exemple the eldarinwe lancer :
stat_pri 8, 9, no, 0, 0, melee, melee_blade, piercing, spear, 25, 1
stat_sec 11, 4, no, 0, 0, melee, melee_blade, piercing, sword, 0, 1
the stats pri is the attack with the lance so it's only used when charging. So when charging, an eldarinwe cavalry has an attack of 8+9=17
and when in close melee combat, so when it's not charging and use it's sword, that unit has an attack of 11.
However if in the game it says :
attack (which I understand as sword attack when not charging) = 8
charge (which I understand as the attack bonus it has when charging) = 9
which does not make sense considering what i explained above.
Normally it should be
attack (close melee attack when not charging) = 11
charge (attack bonus when charging) = (8+9) - 11= 6 (the attack of a cavalry when it charges (with spears) minus the attack when it engadge in long close combat (with sword)
am i wrong?
I'm asking this because i am creating a new cavalry unit which will have an emphasis on melee attack (= attack when not charging) over charge attack.
+rep to anyone who can enlighten me on the subject.

Re: CONFUSION WITH CAVALERY STATS
1. You are wrong
2. The actual damage done by charge is influenced more on animations than anything else. Therefore, you should create a separate mount for this unit (or use already existing one with reduced mass) instead of focusing on EDU stats (they can remain the same). I recommend reading into it further in "Medieval II Mod Workshop" section.
Cheers

Re: CONFUSION WITH CAVALERY STATS
I'm pretty sure it is how it is in the EDU. In the game I'm pretty sure the attack value is just the stat_pri so the attack with the lance, it dosent show the attack with the sword. the charge value in game should be the same as the charge value in the stat_pri so 9 in this case. So your unit card should say
attack: 8
charge: 9
If you are creating a melee cav unit you could always not bother with it having a lance/spear and just set the stat_pri to being the sword and give it a high attack with a low charge. That way the unit card in game will show the correct values.

Re: CONFUSION WITH CAVALERY STATS
Such units have two weapons, and the EDU lists the melee and charge values for each. If you want a lance-less cavalry (like Dale's Earls), you can make it.
