Default What is the deal with armoury

It is a newbie question I think but what is the deal with armoury. I was thinking that every faction get's the same upgrade, although I read also that only the Italian factions get the highest upgrade (advanced plate armour?)

So can someone point out which faction get which armour upgrade or is this on units based issue.

    Thanx!

When I played with the HRE I got the Advanced Plate. Maybe the Italians are able to get it earlier, I don't know...

The Italians have access to late game units such as Broken Lances and Men-at-Arms that make use of the "Advanced Plate" from the armour factory. I'm not 100% percent sure who else use it.

I know Gothic Knights come with advanced plate on purchase though.

you should test this things in custom battle

You can just check a units´ description to see if it can get any armour upgrades.
Which armour upgrade a unit can get depends on the unit.
Light, low-tier units get lighter armour while heavy, top-tier units get heavier armour.

I´m not quite sure if I understand the question completely, though...

Very few of the units in the game actually upgrade to "Level 6 armor" - that is, advanced plate.

only a few units actually get to level 6 armor.

LAncer - starts with heaviest armor, so no need to upgrade
Gothic Knights / Dis. goth knights - start with heaviest, no upgrade.

Famaglia Ducale -- can go to level 6
Broken Lances / foot broken lances - go to level six
Men-at-Arms / foot men-at-arm - go to 5, and then go to six.

Late General's Bodyguard - go to level 6 (these units not in campaign, just in custom battle).

I might of forgotten a unit or two, but basically - Level 5 armor is the top tier for the majority of the heavy / plate units in this game. ie... what Chiv knights and simillar looking units upgrade to = level 5.

Remember when upgrading to do it as the last thing before you end the turn - if you reload the game the upgrade will say that it has happened and you will be charged for it but it will be forgotten on the subsequent turn
