    Hi everyone.
    I've recently modified Chivalry TW, a bit, so that there are resources present on the map, based on the Barbarian Invasion map (so there is no proper allocation or balance), i've also added new buildings like farms and traders, and silk road(for egypt).
    So i am asking for permission to release. If it will be given, i'll publish the mod (it is rather a small improvement) immediately.

    EDIT:
    I think alpaca won't mind if i issue a list of changes. Let it be like a small tiny preview.

    LIST OF CHANGES: (keep in mind that this is mini-mini mod )
    1)Adds farms to campaign game
    2)Adds trader-market to campaign game
    3)Armoury now gives bonus +2 to armour and weapons.
    4)Egypt is playable
    5)This is a bit dodgy and requires further polishing: i copied resourse section from BI campaign to Grand Campaign.
    As the result there is BI level trade and resources on a map. The bad side is that it is not properly balanced yet. I am considering at the moment copying the RTW resoursec. Depends which are more "rich".
    6)I've added some construction icons to egypt - simply copied them from buildings folder + added new for farms and traders( they are not new - i am no good at graphics, so i kinda got them from the original RTW and BI).
    7)Here is a good one))) (though not really accurate) - DARTH FORMATIONS!!!! )))). I kinda modified the BI v1.6 of them to be playable with ChivalryTW (hope Darth doesn't mind).
    To be honest the modification is pretty much changed " supported faction" parameter for formations. But that works))))
    8)Added trade bonus to the docks, and i think roads, to improve income.
    9)Added silk road for Egypt.


    I've already sent an email for Alpaca, and so if he says yes.... You are gonna get the mod))) (it is finished already).
    KNOWN ISSUES: (WORKING ON - in future versions (most updates if alpaca is ok, will take place after 30th of may.)
    (NO CTDS AT ALL!!!!!! TESTED!!!!)
    1) Resourse allocation should be fixed.
    2) They also gotta be balanced
    3) New financial buildings should be introduced,
    4) UI should be fixed.
    5) Construction times should also be kinda managed.
    6) Some other new buildings will be introduced - for higher income, and perhaps additional improvements.


    All suggestions are more than welcome. But bear in mind that my abilities are limited.

    P.S. While we are still waiting can someone give a hint - in export_desr_building.txt there is a parameter trade_bonus. Is there certain levels of it, or it simply accumulates. For example if i have two buildings with trade bonus 1, does that mean that i've got an overall bonus 2, or that i have just level 1 trade bonus????

    You don't need to ask to publish minimods. Most devs support having 3rd party modding support for their releases.
    Rome wasn't built in a day...
    It was more like a week.

    Alpaca wants mini-mods limited simply for the reason that this was conceived as a multiplayer mod. It is now a total conversion, but multiplayer is still a priority. Moreover, submods could cause the Chiv community to fragment, certainly in terms of MP. Still it does look sound very worthwhile. I would wait for Alpaca's permission as daud fr is doing. Nevertheless, I think the enthusiasm for this mod is truly wonderful.

    But I don't play multiplayer in RTW or any of its mods. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't because I always get that damn message saying my CD key is invalid.

    I believe you need to put your key in the jewelcase (or wherever it is on the box or manual) into the change gamespy key - I think (I have never done mp in this game).

    Alpaca/Militiaman are in charge of the mod so awaiting their say-so is best.

    I thought you were never ever supposed to give out your CD key. I sure won't to anything containing the word "spy"

    Well we've all basically agreed, so it should be up soon. Just wait for the official reply from alpaca though as we want to implement it in a certain way. Either alpaca or myself will change the title to try and get this thread a little more attention.

    I'm guessing it'd add on 1+. Why? Because RTW had mutiple levels of trade as well (markets and temples) so it'd be stupid if they didn't do it that way.

    Actually I just checked out vanilla's edb, it seems that we may not have the correct line for the bonus. It seems that RTW uses:
    trade_base_income_bonus bonus 1
    Whereas we just use
    trade_base_income_bonus 1

    Try using only the RTW one in your edb, otherwise it could be buggy (I'm going to suggest we change this in the next version).

    Guys chill)) Firstly i am still waiting for the permission from alpaca. Secondly i've just realised that the buildings ui is present only for egypt (i've fixed that), plus i've put some wrong edb (fixed as well). Also i think i should take another look at the formations. Anyway as soon as i hear from Alpaca i'll release a version. And i'll keep on making instant SP (only) updates which will be savegame compatible.

    DaVinci thanks for the offer, but i feel more comfortable with being an independent modder. I do not really agree with the view that the original creators have on the game. For example you are against introducing good economics into the game, while i think why not? The players should be allowed to change world in any way they wish. They want to make their nation go into golden age - no problem invest in eco buildings. They want their nation become a military state - no problem, build army. They want to become technollogically advanced, again - invest in specific builidngs. The RTW game by its nature is not linear, there is a freedom of choice, and so there should be one in ChiwTW. That's why i recon i should work on my own))). Anyways, if any of dev.team like my ideas, you are free to use them).

    Ironically, most spear and sword units used Shield Wall asa tactic in the Early Middle Ages! This code should be activated. Battles would last longer.
    Yes, true, but we found that the shield wall in BI was little more than an animation and making the units way overpowered. All you have to do in chiv is put the guard mode on units then they basically do exactly the same.

    @daud.fr, sorry about this, seems alpaca went inactive yesterday. Mind sending me all the files personally so I can see if something works. Well, more specifically, I want to test if this could only be added to the minor campaign.

    After I check you will have the permission. Thanks for your patience :original: (I guess it also helped iron out bugs)

    Our goal was never to leave out the resources. We wanted to put them back in (though probably change the name of a couple). We only left them out because we didn't have the time to include them. If anything though we will most likely include your work (or at least build upon it) in a later patch, credits going to you of course.

    Permission has been granted, sorry for the wait. I would like to stress though that this will most certainly make MP incompatible, so either backup or you'll have to reinstall if you every want to play MP.

    But really i hope ChivTW itself will keep the idea to have more or less the Player's force to disband units from time to time and will have not the easy blitzkrieg way etc.
    Yes, it's a good feature. I also think of it now as a form of attrition for large armies as well.

    Ok i got some news.
    The good ones are: New version - more buildings, more resources, higher cost of them, + stronger sea trade + included DaVinci's formations(i am waiting for permission) + polish UI by Uranos(i am waiting for permission)...
    The bad news: i am still waiting for permission from the devs. I've sent a version to militiaman recently, so hopefully soon i'll release.

    If ya say so! I am not sure I agree. Just tried your idea in defense of Paris and was overrun. HRE and French forces nearly matched. A splendid defense with many traps. No fire for the archers' arrows! I mean come efn on! Not that it ever really happened like that. Bet to be sure i will implement it if you don't. Yawn, bored, going to play BF2.
