Failed to install

When I run the installer and select the appropiate folder, it gives me an error saying that another installation is already in progress. Ive checked all background programs, none of which should cause this. Any idea how to fix it

Thats what i did. Im on vista. Does the installer occasionally run more than one instance of itself with me knowing.

TBH, it doesn't sound like a problem with the mod as such, it isn't something I've seen reported and the installer shouldn't fork another process. Are you looking at all the processes in the task manager? I don't recall Vista, but look on the processes tab rather than the applications and click the CPU column, whatever else is running is probably a top consumer.
