AI Formations DL-File For ChivTW

Warning (EDIT: militiaman): Downloading this may result in MP compatibility problems. If you do download it be sure to remember that you have it to avoid confusion. To revert to the old formations simply delete the file.
Hint (EDIT/DaVinci): Please see also post 31 (militiaman) and 32 (DaVinci) regarding this MP theme. Just make sure, that all human players have the same file-structure in their directory for the MP mode, then this, or other files won't make any problems.

This is AI Formations for ChivTW v1.0 and will probably also content in the next ChivTW patch (work in progress though, but no ctd's will be caused from this file, so far it is tested).

Link Removed, is now content of Chiv 0.44.

This is short tested with my current campaign/s as England and Byzantine. As well Boudicca and alpaca have tested this file.

Have fun with a harder and different/more interesting (cos faction/culture specific) battle-experience.

Well, i also contacted him today before i decided to do a first stab file, and i asked him if he will have the time. See also my Readme comment regarding this. So perhaps my Formations AI file is for the meantime, if the Chiv Team wants it still, that i do something
Otherwise you are free to remove this thread and the link anyway.

Well it's ok, but I regard this as a submod because you actually change a chivalry file (since the mod folder falls back to the vanilla formation file). I won't remove the thread, I just wanted to make it clear that I'm going to enforce our license

Sorry alpaca, but in this case you are actually on the wrong way :wink:

Why?

- No ChivTW stuff has an alternation through my Formations AI file.
- ChivTW still hasn't a Formations AI file on board in the exe-setup.

But however, let us work proper and friendly together is my suggestion, just to make ChivTW's design better, so that the fans will have real successive improvments

Please do that (you can find it in the readme), and in the future send the files to me before making them public to see if our team approves of it. Sorry for the inconvenience (and I'm aware that you'd very much like to release this asap) but this is a necessary step.
I'll tolerate it for now and treat this as an approved submod because the system hasn't long been in place yet, but I might not be so kind in the future.

And i read your policy short, that's anyway a usual way, i would never provide a real submod without any permission, for sure.

And actually, in the Readme i provided "Use this only on your danger". As well, this isn't a submod, in my view at least, 'cause i modified Darth Vader's file so that it fits and will fit to the ChivTW data, i didn't change any ChivTW data.

I really did this, 'cause i like to play ChivTW soon with a quite better AI and thought why not providing such stuff for the fans asap here, 'cause many asked after an AI Formations file
People can use it for now or not, it's not in your responsibility, that's really my view to your comment above, but you guys are the chiefs here, so sorry again for "went alone thing" .

But however, to come here to a calmed and nice agreement, i will send all new files to you first, no problem at all

Edt: I'm kind of confused as to were to put this. I assume you put it in chivalry/data, correct? But it doesn't overwrite anything, and that's kind of strange. I'm going to test it soon, so.....

Yes it doesn't overwrite anything because no formations file is included in chivalry.

Please note:

- AI Formations will not appear as viewable on your ui/checkerboard.
- AI Formations file steers the AI behaviour in the battle-mode.

Bold: Obviously you think this file is the Player's Formations file?
Well, i saw none in the ChivTW data, neither a Formations AI nor a Player's Formations file.

To your question above regarding bugs: The current file shouldn't have any bugs.

The whole file "AI Formations for ChivTW v1.0" is finished :original:

Specific AI Formations (battle behaviour) for all the Christian factions, Golden Horde, Turks, Almohads, Egypt and Byzantians, plus Rebels/"Independant Factions".

Expect a soon release. I sent already the file first to alpaca.
He will give me his sign if it is okay for the release in this forum.

I am almost certain that this will alter MP battles in some way, so I will put a large warning in the first post for now about that. I don't think it'll make it incompatible but I get the feeling it may upset things once you're playing. Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

If it's good enough (need to test it) then there'll be no need for this sub-mod stuff and we should have it in the next patch (with all necessary credits of course ).

Adherbal told me it would cause out of syncs. I didn't actually test it, but I trust him when he says he tested it
So, if you want to play multiplayer, don't use this, or install two versions of chivalry that you can switch around (renaming the mod folder does the trick).
