    Default Musician in army

Just an idea, but if you have ever played Cossacks, you'll know that you have drummers or other musicians in their armys. Does anyone know whether any of the ancient armys had any accompanying musicians, and wouldn't it be a good idea if they could go alongside you army in maybe one of your eagle-bearing units, that further inspires the troops?

well, there were ideas for a project like that when CA first made the game but it never came to fruition. I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure that it is impossible to have them actually play music. The mod RES GESTAE has a musician officer with some of their units - they should be releasing the roman pack soon.

Yes they did , the spartans ALways went to war with Musicians, and i beleive the romans used mUsic to march more effectively.

They call this war a cloud over the land. But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say ****, it's raining!

CA actually included several officer, musician etc units with vanilla RTW, but unfortunately for some reason or another these were omitted from the final retail version. I've played around with these models a while ago, and have since added the eastern heavy musicians as the Pontic Scythed Chariot crews, as well as the greek officers as the Seleucid Scythed Chariot crews, and included them in my mod:

    Pontus Scythed Chariots

    Seleucid Scythed Chariot

Its a shame that CA never released proper skeletons for these musician units, instead they have to make use of placeholder skeletons - IIRC they use standard bearer skeletons. As a result, the trumpet-type things they carry into battle are merely for display purposes only - it would be good if they could at least whack opponents round the head with them
