    Default So bummed

So at turn 205 my wonderful, glorious, beautiful High Elven campaign is crashing to desktop when I end turn and Gondor comes up. I've retried several times, and even replayed the previous turn a couple of times, but no dice.

I have Baron Samedi's submod, so I realize there's no point in posting in the technical/bug section. I guess this means that my campaign is over.

I don't think I have ever played any campaign for 205 turns in any Total War game (Rome, M2, Empire, Napoleon, or Shogun 2), but I was loving the experience as the High Elves! I had destroyed Isengard, both Orc factions, and Mordor via destroying the One Ring. The black lands had been reclaimed by the forces of light, and were well on their way to being healed.

I was about to declare war on Harad, who had beaten Gondor down to one settlement. It was going to be crazy, because Harad was simply huge, and had dozens of full stacks roaming around, filled with many of their high tier units (I hadn't seen any Mumakil yet though). My hope was to see Gondor returned to their capital of Minas Tirith, and the darkness finally repelled from Middle Earth.

    But alas....

Anyhow, I've resolved to accept the loss of the campaign. The purpose of this thread is mostly therapeutic, as I just need to "get this out" to my fellow TATW players. A moderator can feel free to lock or move this thread as they see fit.

Hmm, Skyrim now, or start a new campaign?? Somehow I don't think I'm done with TA just yet!

I feel your pain as my amazing Silvan Elves campaign has just come to an end due to a CTD which i cannot avoid....game crashes whenever i start the battle I've saved it at.
Can't auto resolve as it has Thranduil, Legolas, Haldir and Celeborn all gold chevrons and my whole army is pretty much silver and auto resolving just doesnt help anymore as you lose everytime haha.

I am going to wait for Barons new project which i believe is divide and conquer with his sub mod included ? That will be fun.

I recommend starting one with Dwarves....taking back Moria seems like it would be hell of a lot of fun

I feel for you man, sometimes fate is a cruel beast. I think Baron's 5 has some CTD issues as a number of folks have posted about this. It also has some errors in the unit file that need fixing as well.
Shogun 2, no thanks I will stick with Kingdoms SS.

That sucks . I once had a campaign crash in vanilla once and it was on turn 400 something (I almost beat that record in TATW as mordor but it crashed on turn 334) it really sucked I was so close to world domination and everything so I know what your experiencing .

By the way I suggest you play Skyrim if you haven't already it's a great game though I find it gets boring after awhile (It's also quite nostalgic with all the Dwemer ruins )

My wife bought me Skyrim for Christmas, but I haven't even opened it yet due to TATW. I haven't played any Elder Scrolls games since Battlespire like 15+ years ago. Skyrim really looks like a winner though, so I wanted to get it.

I think I have one more TA campaign in me though, before I jump over to that game. I will play it, but not quite yet.

You'll be back to TATW after Skyrim. Trust me. It's good, but the limitless joy of TATW is magical.

Tired of rampant corruption? Try ICS - Improved Corruption System for TATW3.1.

Not to mention that after getting used to the difficulty of TATW, Skyrim will feel like a piece of cake. After having to end an awesome Eriador campaign because of an inevitable CTD I was so annoyed that I tried going back to Skyrim and got bored after 20 minutes on the highest difficulty, TATW kind of ruined it for me.
