On the sands of the arena blood is spilt for the enjoyment of the people of Rome. The Senators may come here for a day from the hassle of the curia to delight in the skill of its gladiators or to see wild, exotic beasts fight to the death. the excitement lasts long into the day and is often not finished until the sand is crimson and full. Walking around the seats are merchants offering refreshment for the spectators.
