    Default Mundus Magnus

I've put Mundus Magnus into RTW but now I'm having some agrivating problems, worst of all is that I can only deal with them one at a time by starting the game and seeing what makes it crash this time. But right now I haven't a clue.

I start the game and it CTD's very quickly. Then the -show_err give me a message saying "building db, expecting faction, culture or season" about a problem in "descr_building_battle" at line 49 colum 19. I have no idea what that means, besides that, MM didn't even have anything to do with that, so whay would it be causing me problems. If anyone could help me with that, that would be great. .

Look in descr_building_battle.txt and go to that line number if their is a listing like,

    hun ##roman_log_wall.tga

there and you no longer have 'hun' (or roman or whatever) used as a culture within descr_sm_faction.txt it will object to having the 'hun' reference in this file. Work out which culture is not being used is sm_factions and comment out the relevant lines in descr_building_battle, you may also need to add in references for new cultures

Okay, I looked in the recomended file, the "descr_sm_faction". That lists all the factions individually, and "descr_building_battle" lists cultures. So do I have to go through and replace that entire file, when I didn't change it in the first place?

It seems to me that you have a corrupted install, or a corrupted Mundus Magnus download. With a correct install you would njot be having this problem. My suggestion, clean install of RTW, redownload Mundus Magnus, and reinstall Mundus Magnus. In the long run it will be better off. I never had any problems with MM other than CTD during large battles with Egyptians.

Okay, I'll try that, thanks. But this may just be the first problem in a great long line of them.

If you haven't changed descr_sm_factions and both files definitely came from the same version of the same game then you shouldn't in theory be having to change descr_building_battle.

Mismatch I had that gave me the same error message was in 1.6 BI which has same file structure for this. In sm_factions I had re-assigned culture of the huns faction, by changing the culture line from hun to eastern
    faction huns
    culture eastern
    symbol models_strat/symbol_huns.CAS
This meant that their was no culture 'hun' used for any faction in sm_factions and I got the same error message as you, but pointing to the hun line in descr_building_battle, just commenting it and other hun lines out made everything work OK.

If your descr_sm_factions and descr_building_battle are both from RTW and are unaltered something else must be stopping it recognising that culture as valid! eek!

You could try just commenting out the relevent lines temporarily and see what the next error message tells you!

    Just looked at

about third post down Dead Moroz says

    Yes. Don't install these files:

    descr_building_battle.txt
    descr_sm_settlements.txt
    descr_walls.txt
    export_descr_advice.txt

Restore to vanilla walls section in export_descr_buildings.txt. Delete stone walls in several barbarian cities in descr_strat.txt.
So looks like MM has got modified version.

Oops, didn't notice that. Well I suppose ya can't blame me, I had no idea it would have such an adverse affect. I did, when putting in MM, take out edb, edu, edue, dmd, and "export_unit" and maybe another since MM retooled the units and I had already made some changes that MM would undo. I guess I'll just have to go at it again and keep in mind that it changes dbb.

What would happen if I didn't put any of the .txt files that go in the data folder in? If I just put in the other folders would the map still work?

Actually I'll do the bit as well, not so sure that was a sensible answer, after all. Have now looked at MM in more detail (was assuming MM had changed culture / faction names but just had a look at the download and it doesn't seem to - so must be something more fundamental to do with overall file structures).

MM versions look like they were only modified to work up to RTW1.2.
MM looks like it came with its own sm_factions as well, if you installed that over yours it'll be the wrong for your RTW1.5 which could be the culprit for your message.

Dr.Fox did some extra files to make it compatible with 1.3+ see:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...9&page=1&pp=20
you could try this route on a clean install. If you want to keep adapting it yourself it's probably still worth downloading those files to see what the differences are.

If you really only want the map and not whatever other game / unit tweaks it had you could try using it as a provincial campaign under a working 1.3 /1.5 version. You'll need MM's world/maps/campaign/mundus magnus folder and their 'mundus_magnus_regions_and_settlements.txt' file in data/text then overwrite with Dr.Fox's desr_regions and descr_strat (possibly map_height.hgt as well, can't remember which versions that's needed for, but putting it in shouldn't hurt) to get it theoretically compatible with 1.3+!

EDIT: If you go that way you will still need to go through descr_strat and descr_mercenaries to make sure they are not calling any units that you have'nt got installed. Looks like names / traits etc in descr_strat are probably OK for vanilla as Dr. Fox's installation method doesn't pick up MM names or Vnv files. It does look like MM changed things to do with the rebel factions and resources, these will be mentioned in descr_regions and strat so you may still need the data level files for these, Dr.Fox's read me says to copy MM rebel_faction_descr_enums, descr_sm_resources and descr_rebel_factions, you'll probably still need these to get the provincial campaign to work unless you edit out any ammended rebel_factions / resources from strat and regions.

    Have fun!!!!

There is also a Mundus Magnus 3 that works fine with 1.3/1.5.

Thanks hobbes works great. But quick question, is this version of MM sandbox or are the win conditions hidden? Because if it just sandbox then... .

No, that version has the default win conditions, there is no way to disable win conditions in the game.

Well the file is descr_win_conditions.txt, if you've downloaded the 1.3/1.5 compatible version, and they should show up in game

Well that file doesn't exist in the "mundus_magnus" folder within the "data/world/maps/campaign" folder. There is one in the imperial campaign folder though. Is it running of that? And can I make the win conditions show up in game somehow?

Okay, I transfered the "descr_win_conditions" from the "imperial_campaign" folder to the MM folder. That worked fine. I removed added "take_regions 70" to the Greek Cities right under take_rome, that worked but it still said "take and hold rome and at least 50 territories". I went back to the dwc and removed "take_rome" and put "hold_regions x y z", and now the game starts but every time I go to play a provincial campaign and click on the Greek Cities icon the game CTD's instantly and without a " -show_err" message of any kind. Does anyone know what is going on?

Do you victory conditions look like this? This is from my mod which uses the mundus magan so you could use these victory conditons to make sure its working:

    greek_cities
hold_regions Attica Laconia Macedonia Achaia Rhodos Sicilia_Romanus
    take_regions 70
    short_campaign outlive_factions
    macedon thrace

You need to have both hold_regions and take_regions, you cannot have one or the other.

They look almost exactly like that. The only difference between that and mine are what territories you need to hold.

Also - remember to delete the map.rwm file since you are making changes in the campaigns folder.
