Literature about Cataphracts, Heavy Cavalry, HA's, Saka Riders etc.
I've gotten quite fascinated by the heavy cavalry of the eastern half of the EB map - from the Kataphraktoi of AS and Parthia to the heavy bodyguards of Sauromatae, Hayasdan and Saka Rauka, the Kinsmen Cavalry (same as Hay, I think, but recruited them as AS) and generally the light horse archers + heavy melee cavalry of everybody and their mum east of the Munich Oktoberfest.
I was wondering if either members of the EB team, who worked on designing some of these units (and their respective factions) or anybody else on the forum could suggest some literature about these units? I study history and basically I love academic books, so the more footnotes and professors involved, the better
It doesn't have to necessarily be military history > political history which takes into account the military (cavalry) composition of the factions would be welcome too.
And yes, as a history student, I can find literature on my own, but I'm very curious as to what has been used to design these units and factions, since I so far have found only very few books/articles on the subject(s), whereas EB gleams with information. So you could say I'm particularly interested in EB's sources on these subjects, but since it's out of general interest (and not trying to test the info in EB) I'd obviously welcome any other books people might recommend, regardless of whether they've been in use in the creation of EB

Thats not directly my area, but the Europa Barbarorum Bibliography is always a good first start.
If you look more for specific titles, in most previews for EB2 is a paragraph about sources.
And here for EB1.
