Have you deleted map.rwm? Make sure you delete both the one in the data\world\maps\base as well as data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign (if there is one in there).

As for music, make sure that music is enabled in your options menu. If you've installed a music mod and you're hearing vanilla music, delete the files data\sounds\events.dat and events.idx and it should work.

If those solutions don't work, check the RTR Platinum forum.

well, the campaign seems to run fine, so I got that working. But custom battles still CTD and there is still no music, and its not muted. And I've deleted map.rwm so that's not it either

Do you have -show_err enabled? What version of RTRPE are you using? What units are involved in the custom battles when they crash, or is it just with any units?

I'm not sure what you mean by RTRPE. And it crashes right after I pick the map for the custom battle. And I forget how to enable the -show_err

    Make shortcut of uor RTW.exe
right click on shortcut and select properties and add -show_err on target
    it will look like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err

now it's saying that it's not valid when I add the -show_err

    ah, got it, thanks

edit: ok, I tried to play a custom battle and as I expected, it crashed. So I waited for it to show me what the error was, and it didn't! Gah!

RTRPE = Rome Total Realism Platinum Edition

What version of RTRPE are you using? Are you using a Beta version, or the 1.0 Full Install? Do you have any minimods installed?

Are you able to get into any battles at all? Try a battle with a single unit vs a single unit. Then try another battle with different units involved. Did either (or both) of them crash? What units were involved in the one(s) that crashed, and with what factions? I ask because it may be a unit problem; if a unit does not have the correct skin, it will crash after clicking on the button to start the battle (ie before the loading bar) with no -show_err report.

If you have the full version and could not narrow down the crash to specific units, I suggest you do a complete reinstall over a fresh copy of RTW patched to 1.5 (remember to install the 1.3 patch before the 1.5 patch).

ok, It's the 1.0 full install, I just used this link that someone gave me.

I'm not able to do any custom battles. I do have 1.3 installed (I also have 1.2, maybe that's messing with it?) I also installed it on a copy of RTW, would that affect it perhaps?

Did you delete all traces of map.rwm in base folder and imperial_campaign folder ? Anyway there's a new patch v1.5 that has been released which updates mostly the unit balancing.
