Giving wargs to Mordor

Can someone tell me how to make it so that Mordor can recruit wargs?

I edited the export_descr_buildings.txt file and made it so that Mordor could build warg cages, but I couldn't actually recruit any units. When I used the "create_unit" to get some wargs, they didn't have a proper unit card on the campaign map, and their character models didn't have any textures on them when I took them into battle. They were all silver, like liquid metal T-1000 wargs.

What else do I need to do besides edit the export_descr_buildings file?

its an ownership issue in the bmdb file, you need to make sure mordor owns both the wargs and the orcs

Well, I tried following everything it said in that guide, but all it did was make the game crash as soon as I tried to start it up.

When is the crash?
that will tell you were the mistake is.
if its at the black screen, its a bmdb error
if its when the loading screen appears it will be some thing else.

It's at the black screen, as soon as I launch the game.

In the third age mod folder, there is a lod folder. Inside of it is a system log. There is also another system log outside of the log folder. One of those contains the reason why the game crashed. The reason is in the last few lines.

the log wont help with a black screen unfortunately,
its a simple count error, you could count the letters make sure all the numbers are correct, alternatively post it up here and ill run it through a checker, i found it somewhere in the mod workshop, made by gracul, very useful if you plan on more modding

your correct it should indeed be a 3, did you fix it and try again?

Yeah, but the game still didn't load, so there must be some other mistake, also. It got as far as the Third Age Total War 3.1 start up screen, with the aerial view of Minas Tirith, and then crashed.

ok so, as so often happens, fix one problem to be confronted with another.
I need to see the edu entry now.
Your log will also help now, go to third age, then open what i think is the default file. In there there will be an option like this

log
error
;trace

now thats not exact, as im not on the right pc, you have to remove the ; before trace and put it before error.
Try and run the game then, it will still crash. Then go to the medieval 2 folder and access logs folder.
in that document ctrl +f then type error.
Post the sentences that brings up here as well

I was trying to do what you said here, but I didn't know what you meant by "the default file," and I couldn't find the logs folder, either. Is that something that only shows up if you unpack your files?

And if I do need to unpack my files, how do I go about doing that? I've read that it's necessary to do that for modding the game, but I don't really know what to do because I don't mod stuff very often.

Haha, well thats my fault, i was on the wrong computer
the file for third age is named TATW located in third_age_3

the exact phrase will be
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt
;level = * trace
level = * error

remove ; before trace and place it before error.

you shouldnt need to unpack your files
to = logs/system.log.txt you can change this bit to send the log wherever you choose. e.g
to=mods/Third_Age_3/system.log.txt
it will then be in your third age folder

in that document ctrl +f then type "error".

I must be doing something wrong, because it's not giving me any kind of log file when I try to start up the game. This is what I currently have in my TATW file, maybe you can tell me where the mistake is.
