    Default Strat Models Renamed Crash

    I have been trying to set up the models_strat folder and related descr_model_strat.txt so I could easily replace the existing models. Since the CA did so big mess I decided to simply streamline all the files there. However even though I did everything right (maybe not really?) the game crashed. So I did it one step at a time to see where is a problem and found out something a bit weird:

    I changed this in descr_model_strat.txt:

    model_flexi_m models_strat/northern_merchant.cas, max (<--- fixed 'northen' to 'northeRn')
    shadow_model_flexi models_strat/shadow_hand.CAS, max

    And renamed the original northen_merchant.cas to northern_merchant.cas. In my textures is of course the default texture: northen_european_merchant_england.tga in both .tga and .tga.dds versions. The game crashes with insufficient memory... Even if I reduce the number of textures to just one and point that one to this default texture it still crashes. It's like it ignores the texture folder but I know it does not because if I have only default names and textures it works and if I remove one of the default textures it does what it does with the renamed file (Insufficient video memory CTD). So there must be something else.

    It should work, not sure what would cause it, you have already placed the default texture. Put this blank tga in it and try to load the game again.

    It actually worked! Thank you mate (again)!

    But I don't get it. Can you please elaborate why the actual vanilla default texture does not work and the blank one does?

    As you may know, kingdoms.exe based mods doesn't need .dds files while mods based on medieval2.exe can't read .tga type and rely only on .dds type format. My guess is that placing them both confuses the engine somehow.

    Like in vanilla (medieval2.exe) a texture is defined as xyz.tga in the descr_model_strat.txt file and while the texture is actually xyz.tga.dds. In kingdoms they provided direct access of .tga files. I did some experimentation when i encountered the issue, i found this solution but now i don't remember what the hell was its actual cause. In my mod folder now i see there are only .tga types and no .dds anywhere.

    Thx, that might be it actually. I tried using both .dds and .tga at the same time (for different models mostly) and that might have been the problem.
