    Default General Portrait Issue

    Yo,

    I'm playing the hotseat campaign w/ a friend via e-mail. Sometimes when a general unit becomes available for adoption, they don't have a proper portrait. Sometimes it's blank, sometimes it's slightly offset. These portraits also seem to change at random from time to time. I've been searching for and answer but nothing recent came up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I had the same problem with one of my Isengard generals, Uflak. He looked ok at the beginning, but his image changed constantly after that, sometimes a unit, a couple of times just blank and one time even Saruman himself.

    that's strange, I haven't seen it affect units that were present @ start.

    Note:
    I haven't seen it happen in single player

    Did these generals cause any problems in the game for you? I'm asking because Lurtz seems to have this problem in my High Elves campaign. Now he's sieging Ost-in-Edhil and everytime I sally out I get a CTD in the loading screen, could this error be responsible for this?

    No, there was no problem playing him, both on the strategic map and in battles. He was a new adoption (maybe the first one) which I picked up because of his four stars, and used him normally.

    I'm guessing within the game there is a list kept of generals/leaders and an associated list of links to portrait id's to identify which already-defined portrait applies to each general/leader. You'll notice that there are a limited number of predefined portraits and sometimes you'll have two generals with different names but the same portrait image.

    I've just come across Lurtz without a portrait, I then clicked on Glorfindel and he has become a ship, he's also been a hunters lodge and Glorfindel himself in previous reloads. Master of disguise granted (apart from the ship in a landlocked region, looks like someone had a little difficulty parking their boat?) The problem is that whenever I go into battle with him, it crashes before the bar gets halfway.

    Looks like someone just forgot to add the Lurtz portraits to the files!! It's REALLY annoying!
    But... no more worries! I learned how to make portraits and made one for Lurtz by my self! If someone wants it, here it goes:

    Just unzip it on your Medieval Total War mod folder (...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods).
