How long do kings usually live. Mine will be 60 and won't die so I can marry his grandson off to a foreign princess!! Also how old can a princess be to still have kids? The youngest one I can find is 38 and the heir (when the king dies) is like 20

I am concerned because my general goal is to get the future heir married and having kids as soon as possible so I can stabilize the royal line. I have enough territory to be able to do that
At 60-65 kings die, and i think (not sure though) that princesses, when around the age of 40 disappear as they arent to be married off anymore when not fertile.
Edit: If you do not manually marry a princess to a family member they will get an automatic proposal to marry pretty soon.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm sure I could wait until the heir in his late 30s to get him married but I don't want to risk it. Also, if a king doesn't have a son who does the crown go to? I have another game with a different faction where the heir got married and promptly gas 4 daughters !!!!!!!
Well, the heir is either the eldest son or the eldest brother of the king, the brother becomes heir ONLY when at the time the king has no kids.

His brother isn't married. Sometime this game is frustrating. Haha
The heir is actually the family member with the highest authority, regardless if he's the eldest son or eldest brother of the current king.
Authority is a stat that is hidden for all family members except the king, however. But usually correlates with other positive traits. One thing you can do is take a very young family member (around age 15), keep winning battles against insane odds, get all the good traits, and he can become king one day.

You mean if the King doesn't have a son? Because the next king was always my king's first born son.
The King's son usually has a lot of authority just by being the son, but it's possible for another family member to have even higher authority and become the faction heir.
Actually the authority thing only happens if the heir who becomes king has no sons-of-age.
Just what i thought, as my heir sometimes has only 3 authority but still becomes king bc he is the son.
