I was wandering around as usual and i noticed we don't actually have a spot for you guys to suggest to us a few ideas of your own.
So without further ado - suggest away!
Well I've got an idea: The BI religions system imported to RTW 1.5
I know RTW 1.5 uses the descr_beliefs.txt if you place it in the Data folder, just didn't try to implement all other code bits yet (traits, events, whatever)

using the --mod switch would be a nice addition
extended greek mod and chivalry use that, and that way handier then keeping a differen copy of RTW for every mod, or firing up JSGME every time you change mods (which doesnt work with all mods anyway
and maybe add the filesize and a hashsum of the download so we can verify weter it was downloaded correctly

Maybe we'll use the -mod switch in the full version, good suggestion. We need to change our installer then though, but I don't think that will be a problem.
Added the hashsum and the filesize to the announcement threads.

wut about HISTORICAL BATTLES?
History is a set of lies agreed upon.

The only fact in history.
I downloaded your 1.5 beta this weekend and played it through about 25 years or so. Excellent work so far! I think you have the makings of a GREAT mod here! I really look forward to playing it more when additional factions have been completed.
I only have a few suggestions that I think would improve historical realism and gameplay.
1. Historically, Cyrus conquered Media rather quickly (546 BC). With the mod's starting conditions and two-turns per year, I couldn't ramp up enough economic and military strength for a decent invasion into Media until at least 540. I wonder if there's a way to improve the starting strength of Persia and maybe slow time down a bit.
Perhaps another option to boosting starting strength would be to start the mod a bit earlier to allow a decade or two for economic development and military build-up.
Slowing down time by using something like Marcus' Four-Turns Per Year mod would also probably go a long way in improving realism. Prior to trying your mod, I was playing RTR:AE and I loved the more realistic feel given by breaking the year into quarertly seasons. I think in the case of ROP, it would give a more realistic pace to the conquest's of early Persia.
2. I am sure that the early Persians could recruit troops more powerful than Youth Sparabarra by 560 BC. I think the barracks recruitment options should be modified to allow recruitment of Sparabarra and Aristibarra from the beginning of the game. Anusiya perhaps at higher stages of barracks development, as you have it now, simulating a later adoption of a professional standing military.
3. I don't know much about modding RTW, but I wonder if it is possible to mod the names of the faction to start with Cyrus and give him sons named Cambyses and Smerdis. Maybe also add the names Darius and Xerxes in replacement of other names for mix into the bloodline.
4. Add the city of Parsa to the map (or is it there already under a different name?).
Just as a last question, what is the current recruitment barracks needed for Aristibarra? I didn't see any option for recruiting them via the barracks system when I looked at the building browser.
Overall, excellent job guys! I think you have a great mod developing here!
We are currently discussing ways to perhaps hamper media and boost Persia's starting strength so the Median invasion can go ahead more smoothly.1.

Yes this is something that should be done for all factions in the next beta - they should be far more built up cities in the next version with real garrisons.2.
Eventually every faction will be given the correct family members3. I don't know much about modding RTW, but I wonder if it is possible to mod the names of the faction to start with Cyrus and give him sons named Cambyses and Smerdis. Maybe also add the names Darius and Xerxes in replacement of other names for mix into the bloodline.
Parsa is the name for the province the Persians lived in - not the town.Add the city of Parsa to the map (or is it there already under a different name?).
Yes this was a small bug we had in the beta. They are supposed to be built via royal barracks. However the persians do not appear to have the ability to build royal barracks!Just as a last question, what is the current recruitment barracks needed for Aristibarra? I didn't see any option for recruiting them via the barracks system when I looked at the building browser.
Thanks for your suggestions!
Well, the name Persia (the area where Persians lived) is given by the name of the city of Fars... The region was also named Arinam (Iran) in the Arian language (the Arians were a migratory people, no racist allusions). Around 1400 BC Arian tribes, Kassites, Gutti, Elamites etc. came from Aria and some of them estabelished themselves in the plateau North from the Persian Gulf. I can't remember for sure what "Arinam" means, but important is that one of the tribes, known for their grey pottery founded a city there called Fars. After 900 years, the "primitive" tribe had civilised itself and became the great power of history, called today <The Persian Empire>.
