playing all the other factions

just dashed a short england campaign so I could play my fav nations (denmark and byz) but even though I won the short campaign I still only have the first 5 as a playble option. how can I play with the other factions??? what did I forget?

find the descr_strat file in your medieval 2 folder, I believe it is in Medieval 2 TW -> data -> world -> maps -> campaign -> Imperial campaign and then all you have to do is edit the file with notepad and move the factions under unlockable to playable. It should look like this:

Isn´t it as such, that you must win a long campaign or defat a particular faction in a short campaign to unlock other factions?
I´m not sure of it, since I just played a long campaign and won as quickly as possible.

well, something is wrong in your case, I know for sure that finishing a short campaign with France unlocked all the factions for me ... I'm so sure because I did it at least 3 times

Rebels are NOT playable and if you play as the Aztecs/Timurids you immediately lose bc you dont have any regions.

Um, yea, you can play as the rebels. I wouldnt suggest it though, it's really buggy.

Might sound stupid, but did you defeat those fractions during that campaign? You can only play thos fractions that you've conquered.

not true, I finished a short campaign with France (like I said in my first reply) and I only destroyed England; when I went back in the imperial campaign menu I had all the factions available

THAT's weird!

How did you manage that, did you alter the script?

Actually, I did the same thing WAAAYYYY back when I first got the game, before modding it at all. Ironically I also used France in my first campaign, which unlocked all the factions for me as well. Maybe it's a bug with France?

Still, easiest way is editing the desc_strat as In3x already posted.

The way to unlock all factions swiftly is to win a short campaign. I did this as the Moors and got all other factions open to play. You don't need to play a long campaign, you don't need to conquer a particular faction, you just have to win the campaign.

Hm, goof to know, however, there is kinda fun playing with the goal to destroy a certain fraction. But it's true, you unlock all unlockable fractions in kingdoms when you win (also when playing long campaign - I always play long campaigns).
