Balrog :(

hey fellas

Im playing my rohan campaign on VH/VH and I have a big problem...
I besieged Moria which had only an general as Garission, I knew that there would be more goblins respawn in moria and that the Balrog would be resurrected

So i just sieged them for a little longer i hoped they would sally out, it would give me advantage because i had really good cavalary in my army, but they didnt,they waited instead...
After another round a big army came around and attacked me from the back so i was surounded

I almost won but the Balrogs just didnt die !!! Whats the best way to kill those mother*******

Autoresolve, or surround him with heavy infantry (you'll suffer heavy losses, but eventually Balrog(s) will fall).

Use Riddermark Skirmishers. He doesn't stand a chance against them.

If so, abandon the siege and crush the reinforcements first - and then siege Moria again

I think the bottom line with the Balrog(s) is, bring a real big army. I had 10 Balrogs, so I can't in good conscience talk about the Balrog (singular), when for most we're talking about the Balrogs (plural).

I sieged for like 9 turns, while I waited for reinforcements. That brought me down to 3 Balrogs. I had arse-tons of Elven archers which softened them up. They came outside Moria, so in addition to a sacrificial infantry unit, I was able to do a good amount of cavalry charges against them. It was easier than expected, actually (I expected to completely die).

I agree with the suggestion to take out those reinforcements first. If need be, come back in a few turns to continue the siege.

Anyway. Using arrows is pretty useless (more so if you need to deal with other units too). What is pretty best is to push some light infantry on them, so they become tired, then throw some heavy infantry and then kill them with some charges to their back. If you have AP units its no big deal, but you need to hold them at place with some infantry.

Btw. back in 2.1 i killed balrogs with one unit of dwarven miners. I think it was pure luck, but it was also hilariously badass

but in all seriousnedd who the hell wants to take Moria as Rohan...ive seen this a dozen times and i can never understand why anyone would even WANT moria as Rohan...i mean seriously its WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out of the way and its in a mountainous region which means *drumroll*

Its like an HQ to the OOMM, they get their most units from there so if you want to break them, you have
to take moria

Kill everything else, and take the square while the Balrog is outside elsewhere. Set some unit to guard mode, space them out, and let them hold the balrogs until the timer runs out. I'm assuming you built some some rams while you were sieging, if not, you'll need to take the gate when your opponents come out of it.
