    Default Autonomy?

Hi, I was just thinking about the autonomy concept, and wondered if it could be expanded?
Off the top of my head, some good examples of autonomy could be (dedicated to respective faction affiliation) for the Druadan, men of Rhudaur or most interestingly in my eyes, the Beornings? We hear a lot about the beornings, but in TATW, they have a tiny role, being represented by a single unit. The Beornings are well-documented in the lord of the rings. Similarly, Khand is virtually only known by location and name. We don't know about its geography, its history or its culture beyond the name "variag" and that they were horsemen. Khand manages to have 3 units in-game, as opposed to the far more lore-covered Beornings, represented by a single unit which is rarely recruitable as a mercenary. I would like to see a form of Beorning autonomy, with a similar result to that of other autonomies such as the hobbits.

What do you think? would doing this be in danger of going overboard on the autonomy concept?
I do feel that the beornings need autonomy as an option if you say, own the anduin vale from Rhosgobel to Framsburg?

    Do not forget Dol Amroth
"I, Pinkie Pie, declare that these treats are fit for a king, or a queen, or a princess!"
"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"
"Oh my gosh. Hold on to your hooves – I am just about to be brilliant!"

Dol Amroth was under the rule of Gondor and should stay that way.

Dol Amroth is a big city which becomes one of your principal sources of income (normally my 3rd best city for income after Minas Tirith and Umbar). To give it autonomy restricts your economy too much. Besides, it also restricts the availability of Dol Amroth units, though those aren't obtained until late-campaign.
While Dol Amroth does enjoy a degree of autonomy from Gondor as one of the Fiefdoms, for gameplay reasons, I suggest that it should not be given autonomy.

I think Beornings would be the most important people to give autonomy on account of their different way of life and their distinctiveness from surrounding peoples, though.

Autonom Beornings would certainly make sense.

Men of Rhudaur might be ok, but of which settlements did you think?

I don't think that the Druadan would offer any units, but they would certainly appreciate autonomy.

For rhudaur, I'd think Hoarwell, Rivendell and Coldfells. I'd argue that Rhudaur can only be given autonomy by evil factions, if possible, reflecting the nature of the men there.

Maybe the extermination of the local population should be a precondition (at least for Rivendell, maybe Hoarwell, too)?

    Good proposals.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

Beornings yes (although i support only one province for them, they were not numerous) and Rhudaur yes (it makes sense, and also it creates some kind of buffer zone for orc factions), at least make these two possible.
Dol Amroth not sure, because it may not make any useful results (they are kind of geographically isolated while they surely shouldnt be - they are not hobbits). Maybe if autonomy will results into something like effective naval and invasion harrasing of Harad. Otherwise it would be just province giveaway.

On the other hand hobbit autonomy has it flaws so it needs to be repaired before spreading it far and wide.
    Time is the killer.

I'd actually suggest Rhudaur be evil only- the men of rhudaur are always portrayed as such, and after the split of Arnor, Rhudaur was the only kingdom to conflict with the others.
