    Default Map modifications

Hello, so what I would like to do is tweak the map a little to correspond the period borders, and just in some places of interest:
    1. Illiria should be less bulky so most of it's innland (north of the road going north-south) should go to Serbia and Croatia

    2. Muntenia should have it's shouth borderon the danube, so it will get a fair ammount of land from Bulgaria and give Dobrogea region to Trace OR Bulgaria AND gain a port trough a narrow strip of land north of the Danube delta (the port of Chilia which was the porrt for the early Wallachian Voyvods)

I understand the maps should be in mods/SS6.3/data/world/maps/base, I have done the modifications (without giving Dobrogea to Bulgaria) in map_regions.tga but no changes happened when I started a new campaign.

My second problem involves the ports and roads, giving Dobrogea to Bulgaria would mean that Bulgaria would have a coast and a port and Muntenia would need to have it's port changed, allong with this the roads will also need a tweak in both provinces Also if I decide to give Dobrogea to Thrace I will need to completely delete the port. So these are my questions

    1. How do I change the province map? (when I saved, with Photoshop the modified map, I exported in a 32 bit .tga, may this be the problem?)
    2. How do I alter roads
    3. How do I add ports or delete them, Giving a port to Bulgaria OR deleting the dobrogea port for it's anexation into Thrace) also all the info regarding this mod and all implications would be required and apreciated

    Thank you

    1. You already have done the changes. To see them you have to delete the cache file in the base folder: 'map.rmw' or something like that and start a new game (If the game crash while doing so you have done something wrong, and you can see it in the logfile). You have to do this whenever you make changes in any file.
    2. You can't alter the roads. The game draws them for you. If you want a region to have (or not to have) roads you have to edit the region's buildings in the 'descr_strat.txt'.
    3. First you have to make sure that the region in the 'map_reagions.tga' file has a white (255 255 255) tile near the ocean. If your port doesn't show up, then choose another tile. If you want the building (i mean an actual port) you have to edit the region's buildings in the 'descr_strat.txt' file.

PD: You have to save tga file in 24 bit format .

Welcome the TW modding world. You are going to meet despair in your large journeys xDD
Jokes aside, I hope it helps you : )

I deleted the cache map.rwm but it crashed upon start with no mention why in the logs, I looked in the descr_strat, but it shows what buildings each province has.

I only did this one and deleted the map.rwm in the same folder

Bulgaria should now have the port that Muntenia had. that was all the modifications I did

ok, I've taken it to the next step, I deleted one province from ireland and 2 from swedan (one being Visby island) to add Hanover Orleans and Liege provinces, it worked for Hanover (being replaced with one province from mainland swedan) but after adding another 2, there is no error it just goes back to the "single player" menu after I chose a faction to play with... any ideas?

Ok, so I think I got lucky with hanover, the other 2 did not work, so I thought the problem was the terrain map, I used geomod but it CTD when I tried to save, and , also some erors regarding troops. Here is my map, if anyone has any ideas why is just returns to the single player menu...

Modding questions should be directed to the Workshop.

But I am modding SS, and will upload the map after it's good enough which is a sub-mod

Doesn't matter. Modding SS is exactly the same as modding anything in M2TW. More modders hang out in the Mod Workshop than here so you're more likely to get help there.
