Got red album expecting the resurrection of hip hop. and what do I get? Lil wayne. Yep.
You know somebody is a huge sellout when they make songs featuring lil wayne. just look at tech. enough said.

Nas was right, hip hop IS dead.

Personally, I don't see the problem with selling out. If someone offered me an extra $100 million to "sell out", they'd have to bring the recording equipment to the bank, cause I'd already be getting the money out.

However, I don't see how collaborating with Lil' Wayne is selling out. Everyone is doing it, unless you think everyone has "sold out". Lil' Wayne is one of the worst musicians there is (if you can even call him a musician) and one of the dumbest people alive. But if there is one thing to give him credit for, it's that he knows to survive in the music industry.

He can't sing, he can't dance, play an instrument, write or produce music, make videos, he looks like a spastic, he can't even rap. He lacks any skill that you would associate with any musician alive. So what does he do? He collaborates with every rapper that he can find. The man is the leech of the music industry. I can literally imagine him annoying rappers until they finally say, "ok you can get in the song".

I've still yet to hear a known song that Lil' Wayne made himself and wasn't just featuring in.

Anyway, my point is that the Game didn't "sell out" by letting Lil' Wayne on his album. He was doing the exact opposite, he was performing charity

Everything you say is true, but on the other hand game claims to be in the top 5 rappers alive and most likely considers himself equal to nas, yet makes songs featuring lil wayne.. hell, nas doesn't even make songs with mobb deep anymore, and those guy are keeping it semi-real.. with that in mind imagine how he feels about game.

my point is, if you're going to sell out don't claim to be keeping it real. only makes you look bad.

GDK stomps this fool. even wayne's early stuff is just WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. a better alternative to wayne's "music" would be an ambulance siren.

I thought RED was pretty good. And of course he gave us The Documentary which is a classic.

Most underground artists are either pretentious or overrated. Sometimes both (see: immortal technique).

It is pretentious of you to say underground artists are overrated.

They are often very outspoken leftists in the "underground".

If I remember correctly the OP made some thread the other day which was pretty rightwing. Of course you wont like IT that way. Though yeah, IT is lots of hit and miss, the hits deserve all the credit though and its worth making compilations.

I don't really care about their political affiliations, I just listen to what is good. I can't help but notice that immortal technique tries too hard to make himself look like a badass gangsta revolutionary, to the point where it's hard to take him seriously. He makes dark and edgy try-hard music almost exclusively. I can picture a 15 year old with a che guevara t-shirt that he bought off hot topic, sitting in the dark listening to IT.
But yeah, that's my opinion right there. I don't like him but to each his own.

How I spent last night. IT is awesome, much better than Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Meek Mill or any of that other bs.

Well I dont care much for imagery. Whats a "gangsta" for instance? Everyone that dresses urban and is angry? What the hell is that? To me he does his best and stays very real by not selling out, by showing up at OWS, and making lots of sense in general. Of course many wont see the sense, but that might not be because of IT....
