It's not Christmas.
Bitter is the wind tonight,
it stirs up the white-waved sea.
I do not fear the coursing of the Irish sea
by the fierce warriors of Lothlind.
Christ was born in the Spring but there was a popular pagan festival in late December, so they moved it to December/January
Also, I think the 6/7th isn't seen as the true birth, but instead the arrival of the wise men
Yeah, here (Latinamerica) we celebrate the arrival of the Wise men at the night of the 6th (or 5th?). Traditionally this is when kids get a Christmas gift (as baby Jesus got gifts from the Wise men), altough with Santa Claus becoming more popular internationally kids get a gift on both dates. Those were the days...![]()
Merry Christmas Lord William ( Քրիստոս ծնավ և հայտնեցավ. ձեզ և մեզ մեծ Ավետիս: )
But I made a thread all-ready regarding Christmas in the Thema Devia.
[ Under Patronage of Jom ][ "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21 ]
Merry Christmas LW.
To the rest of the people in this thread:
This is hardly a thread for the discussion of the Birth of Christ. If you wish to discuss such.. It is more appropriate elsewhere..
