    Default UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME - Please Help!

Alright well, this is pretty bad for me. I tripped over the my computer cord last night and my computer went out, but I was going to shut it down anyways so I just went to sleep. Well, Chivalry Total War came out today and I was hyped, I turned on my gaming computer and... I got this error! UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. I've read up, and it appears that somehow the power cutting broke some subroutines or something along those lines, and the only way to fix it is to put an XP CD in and let it do its thing...

However, my mother really has no idea where the XP CD is in the house, so now I'm kind of desperate, oh lords of the Basement, I beg of you, is their no other way to fix this error!? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

TigerVX, finding the XP CD is really the simplest solution. Apparently, Windows XP can repair the sub routine itself with the disk. If not, it sounds like you may have to reformat the HHD and reinstall the OS anyway.

try to reset your motherboards BIOS by taking out that small battery for 30 sec(no powercord inserted) then put it back. The procedure is different on many motherboards though. So the best solution is to look in the manual or at the manufactures website.

The BIOS have nothing to do with UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, which is part of Windows.

TigerVX, see if you can get into Safe Mode, when the computer is starting up, keep pressing "F8" untill you see the selection screen. Try to revert to last good configeration first, if that don't work try the normal safe mode, if that don't work try the command prompt. If you can get in and access Windows Restore some how then your good.

If you find the xp cd, go into the recovery console and type "fixboot". As long as you didn't cause a headcrash on your HDD while tripping over it, the problem is probably just your boot ini file and this will fix it. If you can't find the xp cd don't panic.. download an XP boot disk, as it has the recovery console aswell. An XP boot disk is unusually large and will take several disks.. or there might be a cd image version of an XP boot disk somehwere (I've never looked), in which case it'll take 1 cd if you don't have a floppy drive.

Oh god, my computer crashed twice because of unmountable boot volume...

I had to reinstall windows and reformat the HD, which is basicly the only solution for it...

Alternativly, you can try to have someone fix it for you and maybe save your HD.
