Default EIC v2.0 | Download, Installation, Uninstalling and Launcher Help

    Installation

    Requirements

~340 MB HDD space for compressed download
~800 MB HDD space for extracted files

Total 1.14 GB HDD space needed for EIC.

There are two main methods of installing - the automatic and the manual. The automatic version is the easiest, most secure method to install the mod and is recommended for all users. Manual installation is only recommended for users with specific knowledge of loading mods for NTW, however a detailed explanation on manual installation is provided for those experiencing issues with the installer or launcher.

    Method 1 - Automatic Installation

Step 1: Download the install package from here.

Step 2: Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 from here.

Step 3: Delete or remove any previously installed mods or submods (you can re-enable them later if you wish) and verify the contents of your NTW install (done via Steam). Also delete any previous versions of EIC you may have installed. Confirm that your game is running as per normal before continuing on with this process.

Step 4: Extract the contents of the install package to your desktop (or any other suitable location). Open the folder "EIC v2.0 Install Package" and start the application named "EIC v2.0 Installer" (the one with the EIC logo). When the installer is first ran it will prompt you to direct it to your "napoleon total war" folder; make sure to get this right, it's crucial to the installation process. If you fail to direct it to the correct location, certain buttons will be made unavailable. If this happens, use the "Reset Napoleon.exe path" option from the installer menu.

You can begin the installation process by clicking on the relevant button - pay close attention to the info provided on screen when you start the installation, as the installation process deletes entire directories relating to EIC (which may have been in use by you) on subsequent installations.

If you wish to perform a complete uninstall of v2.0, there is an option in the installer to do this; however this is not the recommended method to remove EIC. The recommended method is described in greater detail below.

When the installation is complete a shortcut will be added to your desktop. For instructions on how to start playing see below.

    Method 2 - Manual Installation

Step 1: Delete or remove any previously installed mods or submods (you can re-enable them later if you wish) and verify the contents of your NTW install (done via Steam). Also delete any previous versions of EIC you may have installed. Confirm that your game is running as per normal before continuing on with this process.

Step 2: Download the loose packed files from here.

Step 3: Extract the contents of the archive "EIC v2.0 Loose Packed Files" to a suitable location.

Step 4: Copy the folder "EIC v2.0 Loose Packed Files/data/campaigns/eic_campaign" to your NTW campaigns directory (napoleon total war/data/campaigns)

Step 5: Copy the folder "EIC v2.0 Loose Packed Files/data/Europe in Conflict" to your NTW data directory (napoleon total war/data)

    Playing EIC v2.0

As with installing, there are two methods available to play EIC v2.0 - automatic (via the launcher) and manual. Using the launcher is the easiest way to start playing the mod. It has many options to enhance and improve your gameplay experience, which are explained below. Even if you would not normally use a launcher, please read the launcher help section below; there are options present in the EIC launcher that you would not normally come across in other mod launchers.

Method 1 - Automatic, The Launcher

Step 1: If you haven't already got it, download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 from here.

Step 2: Start the launcher via the shortcut placed on your desktop during installation. If you don't have the shortcut, start the launcher by going to "napoleon total war/data/Europe in Conflict/Launcher" and clicking on the application named "Europe in Conflict Launcher".

Step 3: Go to "Launcher Options" -> "Reset To Vanilla". Click on this option and use it to reset the NTW data directory to a vanilla state (See the launcher help section below for more info).

Step 4: Go to the "EIC Submod Options" section (on the launcher main menu) and enable any submods you wish to use.

Step 5: Clcik on the "Play EIC" button to begin!

    Method 2 - Manual Playing

Step 1: After installing the mod, go to "napoleon total war\data\Europe in Conflict\Europe in Conflict files". Here you will see all of the pack files relating to the mod. Copy the files "EIC Core v2_0_014.pack", "EIC loc.pack" and any patch packs (as of v2.0 there are none) to your data directory, as well as any submod packs you wish to use.

Step 1: Enable the mod using either Mod Manager or by manually editing your user.script.txt file. The following files must go at the top of your Mod manager/user.script list in the order shown below, otherwise they will not work:
    • EIC v2_0 Smoke Mod.pack (if enabled)
    • EIC v2_0 Extended Recruitment.pack(if enabled)
    • Any patch packs (as of yet none)
    • EIC Core v2_0_014.pack
    • Any provided submods you wish to use

    Launcher Help Section

In general, most launcher options are self-explanatory. Most buttons have tooltips, and most options are well explained using text boxes. This section of the installation guide focuses on the more important options, which will allow you to get the best EIC v2.0 experience possible

    Main Menu
Shown below is a picture of the launcher main screen.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The buttons, in order are:

    • Play EIC - starts NTW and enables EIC
    • Manpower Options - opens a dialog to set up manpower settings. By default manpower settings are set to normal, so there's no need to make any changes here if you don't want to
    • EIC Submod Options - contains options relating to packaged submods. Click on a submod to enable/disable, hover the mouse over a submod to get a tooltip description of it.
    • Launcher Options - contains options specific to the launcher. See description below, very important!
    • Credits
    • Exit

Note that you can also get a description of any button by hovering the mouse over it.

    Launcher Options Menu

Shown below is a picture of the launcher options screen.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The most important buttons here are "Reset To Vanilla", "Verify EIC Installation" and "Check for plugins".

The dialogue shown when "Reset To Vanilla" is clicked is shown below.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

This option performs a complete sweep of your data directory and can delete any existing user.script files. It moves any EIC files to a safe location and any non-vanilla files to a different safe location. As such, it is recommended to use this option before first playing EIC. Doing this can eliminate many of the most common problems users encounter when first installing and playing. The most important aspect of this option is that it can be used to disable EIC without uninstalling it.

The "Check for plugins" dialogue is used to enable submods when using the Launcher. A tutorial on how to make your own plugins for submods is here.

If any plugins are detected they will automatically be enabled, so be careful when uninstalling submods. An example invalid plugin is provided, which is what displays in the invalid section on the plugin dialogue.

    Uninstalling

    Automatic Method

To begin the uninstallation process, start the launcher and use the "Launcher Options" -> "Reset To Vanilla" option. Make sure that the "Delete user.script?" checkbox is checked.
Then start the EIC installer, and from there use the uninstall option. These two simple steps are by far the easiest and most reliable way to uninstall EIC v2.0.

    Manual Method

Delete the folders "napoleon total war/data/Europe in Conflict" and "napoleon total war/data/campaigns/eic_campaign".
Delete your user.script file (for me the location is "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts"
Delete any packs with EIC in their name in your data folder ("napoleon total war/data")
