Default Why are my units stuck?

When I have a battle thats 3 v 1 for me, some of my units get stuck behind and cant fight the enemy. It then becomes a 1v1 where my unit is taking more casualties than it should. I tried moving the army at the back to circle around and flank but they barely move and only a couple of units follow my order. This might be because of the Med2 engine but how do you guys control your armies better?

I'm probably being an idiot, but try placing the extra units you're trying to flank with in guard mode - that way they ignore fighting to a degree and follow move orders more easily

Edit: you can then take guard mode off once they are in the position you want them in

Very strange... never heard of this before. But 1 thing is sure, its not because of the guard mode.

When you say 3v1 does that mean you outnumber the enemy 3 to 1? If so is it all your army, as in all controlled by you, and not your allies?

Lastly note that in Medieval 2 the maximum number of units you can control is 20. So if you brought 3 full stacks against one enemy stack, you will only be able to use one stack. The other 2 stacks can be ordered with some AI behavior, but you won't control them and they'll suck and move sluggishly because they are ai...

Yeah, and your options are limited. If you want them to move quickly, put them on "Aggressive" mode at the start and then when they get near the main battle, either keep it that way or cool them down to "Shootout" or "Defensive" modes. You can switch between these modes mid-battle, but the results can be unpredictable, even counter-intuitive.
