I'm making an small unit modifications and I want to assign one of this option to a spear unit. Which are the efects of each other in the game and which would need a high training and discipline level to be form?
Txs.

Schiltrom: you won't ever need to use it, except when trying to hold out for reinforcements or smoething like that.
Spearwall: doesn't need an exceptional level of discipline, just make it enough to make sure they don't charge the enemy without orders.

I don't like to reopen threads, but I honestly think there are some legit points in the original thread, which I'll reopen.
Schiltrom basically just protects from flanking, and is still pretty vulnerable to infantry charges, while shield wall on defensive is basically godmode.
Not playing to much but It seems that shield wall is more usefull that schiltrom. My intention was to assign the most powerfull, usefull and "difficult" (that one who should need more training and disciplined soldiers to form) to the most advanced spear infantry and the other to the militia but I think that for playability the shield wall is better for militia (wall defense) and the schiltrom maybe better for open field battle (anti-cavalry charge?).
Thread moved from M2TW GD forums to Mod workshop. Ask modding questions here please.
Spear Wall always adds more mass versus units in front of the shield_wall unit. It's a really deep and intense area to play with, you can add radius etc in the EDU and play with formation, mount's mass, charge bonus and such.
Taiji knows about this than anyone else here imo.![]()
Uhmmm, is it possible to add an anti-cavalry bonus to the schiltrom? I think without that this form is not very usefull
schiltrom formation has a cavalry bonus by default, just like shield wall has a def bonus and attack penalty. Spearmen in vanilla schiltrom will wreak even elite cav with minimal losses.
Ok, thank you.
