Default Suggestions thread and moderators :)

I think there are moderators who act quite mechanically here

Not all propositions, ideas or suggestions posted on this forum are meant to be posted in the Suggestion thread, not all of them are meant as "suggestion for the next version", they are just ideas, presentations of personal concepts, specific or particular changes the author might want to debate of or get some feedback.

In the suggestions thread they will shortly disappear under dozens of other (and real) "suggestions for the next version" and there won't be any reaction, any feedback, any debate.

I post this concerning my last idea about using the Dol Guldur custom settlement from 3.0 to represent Carn Dûm. I do not suggest this for TATW 4.0, it's a tiny change (just one word in descr_strat) everyone can do and see, and come with adjustments of the terrain possibly, etc. I wanted to continue the topic with other similar projects... it's neither a submod, nor a suggestion for 4.0... but now, it's done I have seen other topics of the same purpose that got "hidden" in the suggestion thread.

Double thread ? This is about the forum moderating, a different topic. Just to let the moderator know that I do not appreciate his measure and generally about the Suggestion thread that would become kind of misused by recieving the "suggestions" I talk about. I don't think it is a "waste basket" for small ideas ?

You can be sure that I am (we are) always carefully reading all suggestions and there is nothing that won't be considered (if it makes any sense, of course)

Please remember that the more constructive and reasonable your suggestion is (try to provide sources, pictures, think of game balance, strength, weaknesses...), the more chance it will have to get implemented.

Ok... then I did understand you wrong... pls forgive me!

    Back to your topic:
I think posting in the suggestion thread is better than creating a new thread that could get lost!

A good mod-creator will at least look at every single post in there... without beeing afraid of all 100 pages of posts...
Otherwise they would have to browse manually to this forum OR read it everyday...

If... I wanted to suggest that for the next version, I would do that, I am well aware of the existance of the suggestions thread

I completely agree. But like almost everyone who allows their ego to dominate their thinking you equate yours with all. Not all suggestions are for the suggestions thread but yours (the specific one you're referring to) is.

Not all of them are meant as "suggestion for the next version", they are just ideas, presentations of personal concepts, specific or particular changes the author might want to debate of or get some feedback.
So according to you elaborate suggestions that are relevant for large, non-decimal, version updates should go to the suggestion thread while small, minor stuff should have it's own separate discussion?

The suggestion thread caters to all updates, large and small, it's not just for 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 etc. but the stuff in between as well.

Generally more elaborate ideas and notions that need a more thorough discussion and have potentially bigger consequences are allowed to maintain a separate thread:

    Examples:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=501333
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=513125
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=501803
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=513304

Smaller ideas, especially ones that propose "patchwork" solutions, don't fall into the above category.

Of course there are no strict rules about what is what, there are no set parameters with which to determine these things so it falls to the individual moderators' judgement. It's oftentimes a balancing act.

Other factors are at play as well. For example this is the aftermath of 3.0's release and a lot of new threads are being opened and many discussions get very little "life" before sinking to the 2nd page so my tolerance for what stays in gen. discussion is naturally lower.

In the future, if you have issues contact a moderator privately or via profile, don't open a thread like this. It only aggravates the problem and adds to the mess we try to keep clear.

    Closed.

    Edit:
A good mod-creator will at least look at every single post in there... without beeing afraid of all 100 pages of posts...

This is true as well. KK rarely makes his presence known but he reads the forum a lot more than people realize. He's more likely to read posts gathered in the suggestions thread than go through pages and pages of gen. discussion topics.
