Default Harad ocupies Gondor every time. Gondor faces certain death...

In every playthrough, if you are not playing as one of those southern factions, Harad always occupies the Gondor territory and becomes the most powerful faction in middle earth. It is really annoying because at this point the game becomes really boring -- you will be facing hundreds of thousands of desert armies, effectively fighting against one stack of troopers after another without end.

Exactly what should happen. Gondor should not survive a war with both Mordor and Harad.

That's the point... Gondor should be facing it's certain doom, only the player can prevent it. Otherwise what would be your role in Middle Earth?

While I agree that Gondor should not survive a war with both Harad and Mordor (at least in the later stages of the game), it always bugs me that Harad becomes the superpower and not Mordor. Usually even Rhűn has a stronger military and better economy then Mordor.

Really? In my current Eriador campaign Mordor annihilated Rohan (which was doing well after we had defeated Isengard) and Gondor was down to Lond Galen until I declared war to Mordor which let them recover a few regions.
Harad only made it to Goben Tolfalas and Linhir, though they have three full stacks standing there.

But I play Baron's Submod on vh/vh with deactivated garrison script and stack spam and activated Good vs Evil campaign, so Harad can't declare war on Mordor until all good factions are defeated, maybe that's the reason...

I think the ai does just enough to beat the enemy factions next to them so Mordor never really becomes a powerhouse because it does not need to.

Gondor was fighting a war that is unwinnable- doomed to lost.
Their number and might are no longer, and the power of evil encrease each day...
Only the Fellowship of the Ring and a twist of fate that turned the whole thing around....

Depending on what good faction one is playing, Dale having an issue here, you can prepare an early invasion force with a well trained spy and attack Umbar as early as possible then fortify it. This will weaken Harad tremendously and Gondor can hold its own against Mordor. At one time I did this, Gondor even took 1/3 of Harad land before we in unison wiped them out.

Thing is though, that the "evil" factions always seem to direct their attacks with more cohesion and overall efficiency than any "good" AI. And still in 3.x the Dwarves always attack one of the elf factions creating further issues since the Elves seems more intent fighting the Dwarves than Orcs and Mordor. Playing High-Elf ones, I rushed to take the westernmost Dwarven settlements then make peace. After this, Dwarves never bothered any elves again and went hard against Orc and Rhun. Makes me wonder if the main mod should have the two Dwarven factions implemented from the get-go.
