    Default MTW2:MAP speculation update

I thought I'd make a map again and have some changes based on the info we got from E3 on the New World. Like Gamespy saying you can land on Brazil, fight the Incas, explore the Caribbean, explore Florida and the "Southern US". So now everyone can tell me how inaccurate they think the map is again.

The mayas live in south america, I do believe. And by no means should the turks control cilicia at this point!

Also, the sea must be much huger to be accurate in any sense. Unless they plan on doing something unorthodox to represent the distance.

    Mayas=Yuctan Penninsula(Spelling is surely wrong)

I don't know what CA realky means by "explore". Do they mean those areas of the map will be there, but no cities? Or they will have a few cities occupied by random rebels? Or(impossible...) they will actualy have real factions to represent all that?

Yeah, I remember you edited some of the RTW side. I didn't know if I should give you any credit with all the bashing I knew it would take again, haha.

To Imperator: I've never heard of the Maya having settlements in South America at the time. I should probably make northern and central Turkey rebel territories since Byzantium was stated on the main site to only have western Turkey. I blame Byzantium Turkey on Chuffy!

To hsimoorb: The below map shows the Maya went further than the Yucatan. Plus, we have to give them more than one territory of land in the game.

This is one of the many maps on the web showing the Mayan Empire and I think I made them well enough for game balance. We can't argue exact history here because this is a Middle ages game and we're trying to fit their older empire with the newer Aztec empire on the same map.

EDIT: Also, in my map I didn't try to speculate on the size of the Atlantic Ocean because the picture would be so big that I couldn't "show" it nicely on this board. So of course I don't think the final map will have the continents so close together.

    1) To many provinces I think
    2)not far enough east
3)Denmark doesnt own all of that. Simply denmark and very southern tip of sweden.

    Thats bout it for now.

It looks like he put it in the Eastern Iberia, but those are just Rebels...

Well, most poeple in the first thread thought that Portugal would come in late like some factions in BI and shouldn't be in this map. I guess leaving Portugal in the reference is misleading, hehe. Does anyone now know if Portugal and Russia will be seen on the map from the start?

I mostly updated this map so you guys might talk about the new Americas map, not rehash the same problems with the Euro-Africa side that is based on our very limited knowledge from the developers so far. Like they said it was going to be based on the RTW map, so I used the old map to semi-simulate what the new map might look sort of like...

About Denmark, I don't see why we shouldn't give them the permafrost pennisulas when they seemingly only have one territory. From what I've read of the Holy Roman Empire (Germany) they are bloated and will lose some territories early because they can't defend them all. So why have the Danes waste their time taking the north when it seems the player should/would be focusing on taking places from HRE right away.
Are you guys thinking this because it was that way on the first MTW map? I haven't seen the first MTW map. I've heard the Danes were a powerful and good faction to play in MTW and if they only had one pennisula, then they must have had some strong/unbalanced units. Or is the point of them to get in their longboats and start settlements elsewhere in europe? I believe they went all the way down to invade Sicily so they went pretty far.

EDIT: The thing that I've been wondering about more than anything on the map is what the size of the Americas will be. The developers probably don't want the Americas to be more than half as large as the Euro-Asia map because they seem to be implying that the New World is just a "bonus" place. I've included all the things that Gamespy said they saw and it looks to freaking big to just be a bonus. So do you think the devs will shrink the Americas or what?

Sweden and southern Norway are very rich lands and not permafrost by any means. There are reasons why Sweden is more prosperous than Denmark in the modern era.. Im one province becuase I know my history(decently) and your map is incorrect and that in MTW they only had Denmark as one province.

Russia will most definatly be at the start, representing the Kievan Rus. Portugal would most likely be there, but who knows.

Heres my idea for the faction placement.

It's mainly based on the faction positions from MTW which I imagine wouldn't be changed much by CA.

Oh yeah and I just put Novgorod in any old place.

Very good except the Seljuks should own Iran and the Levant.

Is Sweden going to be one big country again? How do you conquer that much land by gaining control of one single settlement? Same goes for Norway, obviously. And god forbid the enormous provinces seen in the north-eastern parts of the map in RTW.

I bet they'll try and pull off some sort of crazy transformation on the map like so.

Chuffy: The totalwar.com site says this about Byzantium: "they start in control of western Turkey, Greece and the Southern Balkans." They didn't say anything about owning part of Italy. So it seems they aren't going by the old MTW1 map for the new game and are making at least one big change. But maybe some will have more individual territories than before.

bdh: Yes, I also thought of a "Civilization-style" map that skews, but to skew such a huge area could make it too weird. But good thinking.
Also, thanks for making the board too wide with your map. .
