2 questions on this, is there a list of different formations that units can do and also in the "Tortuga" formation that the Romans used in the game?

Things I trust more than American conservatives:
Drinks from Bill Cosby, Flint Michigan tap water, Plane rides from Al Qaeda, Anything on the menu at Chipotle, Medical procedures from Mengele
as far as i know, it doesnt exist, but someone who uses fomations more than i do might know...
The testudo formation is not possible sadly. It is possible to make a unit look like they are in that formation through animation(I believe it is through animation), but there will be no benefits from the shields, i.e. the unit will act like each soldier is holding the shield normally.
Close, loose, wedge (cavalry only), sciltrom, spear wall, and shield wall are all of the formation I believe.

I imagine it is the same as a normal frontal attack. When you attack a unit from the front the defending unit gets full defense stat from the shield value, but if you attack from the side they only receive half of the shield defense value, and attacking from behind they get no defense benefit from the shield at all. So, your units will have the shields to help them, but I don't think there is any extra benefit to shield wall formation. Shield wall actually makes a unit a better target by having all the troops grouped up so tightly.
good to know that

Yes, as I already said it is possible through animation, but there is no in game affect. If you look at the title of the video it says "new animation." If the unit is pounded with arrows it will be just like the soldiers are holding their shield in front of them like normal.
Edit: Ngugi ninja'd me.
Edit2: If you still want the animation, as far as I know it was never released. Perhaps it was too buggy.

ok so it was never released, to bad OK case closed
I dont think it's possible
Ah, good old testudo. I miss that awesome formation... People in the medieval era should have thought of it too!
ShieldWall is terribly under used, I prefer to think of it as close order formation though. With that logic negating the necessity of the shield too actually stand closer together, I sent a unit of Eldar Swordsmen at Olag Hai. Try it out you will be quite surprised.
