    Default Are these even possible?

This is more of like a mix thread (question and suggestion).

    1. ABOUT THE GARRISON SCRIPT;
First of all I m not against it and I don't want to remove it as it really challenges and adds some color to me in my campaigns. Now my question is are the additional units being given to the AI random or is there some sort of secret script or formula for the spawning of units?

If its even possible may I humbly suggest that the spawning should have some sort of formula or arrangement, I mean it should not be random. The kind and number of units that the AI gets should reflect based on what level the settlement is in. For example as Gondor.

A Small town settlement can get like 3 archer militia, 5 militia infantry and 1 cav, militia. A total of at least 9 additional units but their quality is very low.

A citadel level city can get like 3 heavy gondor archers, 6 gondor heavy infantry, 2 fountain guards and 3 swan knights.

These are just very rough example but I think you guys get the idea already.

The same goes for like the difference between castles and cities. Castles can have more heavy cav and heavy infantry units but less in numbers while in cities more archers and mid level infantry but with more on numbers.

    2. About trolls and other monsters;
I have played M2TW and its expansion for a long time before I discovered this amazing mod. Now I know that there are no units in the M2TW vanilla or in Kingdoms that have the size of trolls, spiders, balrogs, ents, dwarves and hobbits. So Naturally they are very unique in TATW and are specifically made for this mod.

So my question is, is it even possible to have different kinds of trolls models in different sizes?

I will based my suggestion in the other game Battle for Middle Earth 2 and its expansions which I am very sure that most of you guys are very familiar with. Just take a look at the different kinds of trolls there.

    1. Mountain trolls
    2. Attack troll or Olog hai
    3. Hill trolls
    4. Snow trolls
    5. Cave trolls

They all vary in shapes and sizes, cave trolls being the smallest then hill, snow and mountain and olog hai being the largest.

Currently in version 3.1 cave and mountain troll almost look exactly the same. If its possible (I m no modder) can the cave troll have model change like make it small more compact than mountain trolls?

IMHO having troll of different sizes will add more visual diversity and the feeling of playing a faction. I m aware of the current situation of the 2 factions OotMm and OoG. They feel like the same and some what lacking in something. This will also represent the different environment or regions the trolls came from.

So what say you to these? Yes?

The units spawned by the garrison script are not random. They are defined in the script. For example when Minas Tirith is besieged by the player these are the units spawned:

create_unit Anorien, Gondor Spearmen Mercs, num 2, exp 0, arm 0, wep 0
create_unit Anorien, Gondor Archers Mercs, num 1, exp 0, arm 0, wep 0
create_unit Anorien, Gondor Infantry Mercs, num 1, exp 0, arm 0, wep 0
    create_unit Anorien, Gondor Trebuchet, num 2, exp 0, arm 0, wep 0
create_unit Anorien, Dismounted Kofm Mercs, num 2, exp 0, arm 0, wep 0

There are already different troll models. Simply look at the cave troll, snow troll, and the Olog Hai. All are a lot different from each other.

Not Random? Then good to know then. Is it the same with all factions and settlements when being played by the AI?

What I m trying to ask and suggest is having trolls in different sizes. Currently trolls in TATW are all of the same size the only difference are what they wear.

Cave trolls in 3.0 are shirtless trolls carrying huge hammers
Mountain trolls are the same size but they are wearing a leather hood and something of a leather band on them.
Olog hai the same size only wearing full heavy body armor.

Now is it possible for trolls to have different sizes and thus different models all together.
Come on people who played Battle for Middle Earth 2 and Rise of the Witchking a little help here. You know what I m trying to say right?

In this game trolls are all different.
Cave trolls are the smallest, looking like very compact suitable for leaving and fitting in caves. The pictures above lacks perspective so the cave troll looks about the same size with the mountain troll. But in the game cave trolls are much smaller.
Mountain trolls are huge as their name suggest lived in wide mountain areas.
Olog hai are more like mountain troll with armor too. But I have no problem with them on TATW.
Snow trolls in TATW, well despite their size I also have no problem with them. I can live with the current model as its very well done. But in Rise of the Witchking game they are short and stout looking.

The last kind of trolls are the Hill Trolls they should really be in the game as they are mentioned in the books twice by master Tolkien. They should look like tall and slender but still very muscular like that in the picture above.

Factions that should have hill trolls are Gundabad Orcs and mordor. IMHO
Gundabad hill trolls should look like the ones from the picture
While Mordor hill trolls should look like they are more armored.

Yes, every settlement that is a part of the garrison script has what units spawned defined in the script.

About the trolls, I think it should be possible to make different size troll units, but some with more experience in unit modding than I have will have to confirm it.

Well, if you look closely you'll see "num 1" or "num 2." In the case of the latter two units will spawn.
