    Default Request for small mod.

    Ever since i started playing Third Age (from 1.4 or something) i have found myself in the same old situation again and again with all the factions i play. That is for good factions. I assume with evil factions i wouldnt care.
    Anyway:
    The problem is that i do not want to smash most of the middle earth, i want to keep my own territory, maybe expand a little here and there, grow economy, help out friends and allies and keep the evil at bay. Unfortunately i am unable to survive like this. Sooner or later that evil grows too strong with their stacks and bonuses etc.

    Baron Samedi's compilation mod has done a great job with the custom campaign where a player can choose with what to play but unfortunately there is nothing that changes the player income (increases it). In a perfect day the recruitment cost wouldnt be money but culture instead, no man or elf or dwarf will ask money when they have orcs burning their homes, they will fight for their homes for free. Money recruitment cost could only be for professional small armies. But i hardly doubt it is doable in any mod so an increased income have to do.

    In later games , Empire, Shogun etc have armed citizens who will defend the city against invaders if it has no army inside. This would also be perfect in third Age, that way you only have to upkeep your own invading armies. but again its not doable i assume.
    Anyway has anyone ever wanted to play the same way and how have they overcome the problems? Or maybe someone have some quick solutions how to increase player income, Campaign difficulty has no effect what so ever.By reducing the bonuses of AI to the level they wount harrass you, the game comes way too dull and you really dont have anyone to fight.PS. I know that Third Age is a mod for Total War game and it is ment to be played with all out war but surely it can be played differently, since it is probably the best Middle-Earth game out there atm.

    They still need to eat, sleep, ecuippment, etc. The hiring cost itself isnt everything
    Under the patronage of Finlander. Once patron to someone, no longer.
    Content's well good, innit.

    I know of ways to increase the income of all factions if you want the change to take effect in a current campaign, or you can change the income of one faction if you want to start a new campaign.

    To change the income of all factions there a couple things you can do. Firstly you can lower corruption. To do this find the file descr_settlement_mechanics.xml and open it with notepad. Find this line:

    <factor name="SIF_CORRUPTION"> ;?
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>

    change the "1.0" to "0.05" and you will have MUCH lower corruption.

    Next, if you go into the file export_descr_buildings.txt and locate the trade buildings you can change the trade bonus they give you.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    building market
    {
    levels corn_exchange market fairground great_market merchants_quarter
    {
    corn_exchange city requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, spain, venice, england, france, hre, portugal, egypt, mongols, moors, }
    {
    capability
    {
    ; agent merchant 0 requires factions { sicily, milan, scotland, turks, }
    ; agent merchant 0 requires factions { spain, venice, }
    ; agent merchant 0 requires factions { egypt, mongols, }
    ; agent merchant 0 requires factions { moors, }
    trade_base_income_bonus bonus 1
    ; agent_limit merchant 1
    }
    material wooden
    construction 2
    cost 600
    settlement_min town
    upgrades
    {
    market
    }

    change the "1" to a "3", and then do the same with the other levels of trade buildings, tripling the trade bonus. You can do the same thing with roads, mines, and farms but be careful when changing the farming output as it affects your population growth.

    Alternatively, if you want to change only your OWN income and are willing to start a new campaign you will need to find the file descr_strat.txt. This is located in the subfolders data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    ; >>>> start of factions section <<<<
    ;#################################################################
    ;########################## GONDOR ############################# 23300
    ;#################################################################
    faction sicily, balanced smith
    ai_label good
    denari 15000
    denari_kings_purse 3800

    Change the "3800" to anything you want, if you changed it to 5800 then gondor would receive an extra 2000 income every turn.
    This is an example for gondor, just search for whatever faction you want to be in the file, and change their respective kings_purse.

    Hopefully that helps you

    0.05 is an overkill, I have corruption at 0.8 if I play without total recruitment and 0.5 if I play with it. 0.05 will give you 6000 extra gold per turn.

    I suggested that value as the OP seemed to in dire need of extra income, it's of course entirely his choice what he changes it to
