Excommunication

I have being thinking about this whole Excommunication thing and I have realised a small possible future problem. What is a member of the priesthood is excommunicated as what happened with most excommunications. It hardly seems fair that a priest who has no army has to suffer a rebellion role and anyway the church has no land per se. So what would be a fair system for this?

Excommunication roll only applies to land owners ie barons and up

if you are a clergymen you would most probably be arrested by the archbishop and if the crime was serious enough be executed

clergy can be excomunicated, but the rebellion roll wouldn't apply. Just like we don't do one if a freedman is excomunicated.

But then what is the punishment for getting excommunicated? It means for low level or clergy characters an excommunication is meaningless.

They are removed from the clergy, even a denouncement is enough for this

It was my idea they when a person is excommunicated they should no longer make money(or at least 50% reduction in pay), if the priest would be kicked out we would automatically be placed in the freedman bracket yet since he is excommunicated he should receive no income
